12 september 2012

standing in line at 10 minutes to 7am, and it felt like christmas morning, so crazily excited to VOTE. i double-checked that i filled in the right ballots about 18 times before turning it in. now i'm all giddy.

and my sister just sent me the following email she got from her friend Hilton (in Manhattan), which i love so much i just had to post it here -- perfectly captures the atmosphere of today:

"Walking around downtown. Incredible sense of energy unleashed. Poets and freaks who haven't been up at this hour since they were born, standing in line to be heard. I want to eat the whole city. Walking over to Christopher Street to get what the trannies are feeling. Depressed and broke black folk already out in Brooklyn, in strong force. Want to kiss all the missed people, the ghosts.

Waiting in line to pull the lever, I heard Hilton? It was Anna Deveare Smith with wet hair. After she got her booth, Police Officer Gonzalez whispered to me: That lady? She's in the movies, right? And I said: Yes. But so are you."

i am also so saddened to see that Obama's grandmother passed away yesterday -- my own grandmother died back in august, and I'm sorry she didn't live to cast her vote today, i know how excited she was about it... so my vote counts for both her and me today!

The day has finally arrived , election day 2022 ( Nov 8th ) ,We see Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Sergeant Butch Soto headed back to unit after casting his ballot at Fort Hazzard Community center in southern part of the county. The center is one of 9 places to vote in the county .

The Community center is in the old Fort Hazzard High school built in 1934 and used to 1965 school year when, Hazzard Range county schools system was formed and all students were bused to Sparta, the county seat . Unlike the elementary that was used from 1920 and used till 1939 when the High school was used for all grades . Elementary school building was torn down in 2017 . The old High school was turned into the community center in 1967 and has been used for that ever since .

This scurrilous advertising hoarding was still in place some nine months after the general election of May 2005. In fact, we had only two more years of "him" because he resigned in June 2007 to be replaced by Gordon Brown. Bordesley Green at the junction with Victoria Street, Birmingham, 26th February 2006.

Voters in Des Moines precincts 44, 58 and 59 cast their ballots at Callanan Middle School.

On the eve of Election Day, this is what we, the people of the US of A, have been subjected to this election cycle. I'm sure I've missed a bunch of buzz words that have been bandied about, but I was running out of space while composing this meme. No matter what side you choose, we, the people, need to remember we share this country together as Americans. We are all in this world together until we pass on. So be kind to one another. Stop shouting and screaming and start talking and understanding. We will never survive if we don't. That is all I want to say about this topic. Please don't get angry and hate filled here. I won't tolerate it.

Despite the bold prediction Denzil Douglas led the ruling

Labour Party to a 4th successive term in office in January this year.

He may have to get in touch with Gordon Brown to give him a few tips before our election on May 6th!

What else can one do on election night, but grab a twelve pack and listen to the wind howl while a slow fire keeps the workshop comfortable.

Voters in Des Moines precincts 43, 61 and 62 were serenaded when they cast their ballots at Roosevelt High School this evening. Grammy-nominated cellist Matt Haimovitz performed cello works by Bach, Glass and other composers. His performance was part of Play for the Vote, a nation-wide initiative by artists to provide a positive experience for voters.

The election and pandemic stress is overwhelming . . .

A provincial election will be held in less than two weeks' time -- on 2018-06-07. It's time to elect the next government of the province of Ontario, which is Canada's largest with a population of over 14-million people. But if you are just walking down the street, you would not know an election is happening in just 11 days.

I remember up to ten years ago, people used to proudly display which political party they are supporting by allowing signs such as this one to be put on their properties. No longer, people seem much more cynical about politics and voter turnouts have plummeted in recent elections. Most people also refuse to publicly declare which party they are voting.

Today all Australians voted for House of Reps and the Senate and the Prime Minister of Australia. Voting is compulsory in Australia . As I upload this the polling booths are still open, although the outcome seems to be decided . and that is about as political as I get.

I wonder if there is a good movie on tv tonight? all the v networks are covering the elections results.....
