i have never tried green asparagus before, so when i saw these fresh looking spears at the supermarket today i just had to pick these up.
i have no idea how to prepare these. i'm planning on steaming these and serving them with steak, new roasted potatoes, and a creamy mushroomy sauce tomorrow.
anyone got any other ideas?
Here is my Pixie Magic Layla doll. I got her at a thrift store in 2012. She came with all the accessories necessary to complete her outfit, and also her shield. I don't have any more accessories for her than what is pictured here. I also bought Season 1 Tecna and Singsational Magic Bloom with Layla. Together they costed me a little over $6, I think. Layla's hair was a bit messy when I got her, but I fixed it, and she basically looks new now. The hair elastics that are in her lighter brown hair at the front are not the original ones, because one of the original ones broke when I was fixing her hair, and then I had to take the other one out and replace them with hair elastics that matched.
I really like this doll a lot, and probably say that about almost all of my Winx dolls, but this one is one of my favorites that I own. I think Mattel did a really good job on this doll. Her hair is perfect, especially with the 2 different shades of brown, her outfit is accurate, and looks really cool with the shiny and sparkly fabrics, the rooted eyelashes are a really nice touch, and the shield is a nice addition, because it makes her look ready for battle. The armbands are not completely accurate to the show, but they're still pretty and have nice colors.
I set her up by the water because Layla is the fairy of waves. It was hot on that day, and I was having trouble getting the photos to look how I wanted them to, and then when I dumped them onto my computer, very few of them were any good, so there weren't that many to choose from.

Todays job was to complete the spike pulling on track panels at Kimberley. These panels were acquired a few years ago, primarily to recover the 109lb/yd FB rails which are suitable for reuse. We have been working on this for all of November. 20 panels were craned off of the stacks and and laid out. We then have to remove all of the spikes in order to free the rails for lifting out. Invariably this is a total pig of a job. The spikes resolutely hold fast in decent sleepers and those that are poorer often have the spikes rusted into the baseplates. There is a special cunning tool designed for extracting them, which provides force in the right place to lift them. With stubborn ones, a wedge can be driven in underneath, in conjunction with the tool to free locked ones, and when the baseplate is sticking on rusted spikes then the baseplate has to be hammered down as the spike is pulled. It all makes for hard work. Ear plugs or ear defenders are a must.

Lightning Master was the last survivor of his Earth, which was destroyed by the Observators. He was rescued by the Tetrad on a previous adventure. His main abilities include electricity manipulation and lightning summoning. Next, Sentry of Fate aka Bailey Walker. He has a powerful suit of armor that allows him to fly and shoot concussive blasts among other things. Next, Ductile-Woman aka Naomi Mantz. She is the team leader. Her abilities include elastic muscles and epidermis. Next, Static Man aka Parker Walker, the older brother of Bailey Walker. His powers include electricity manipulation, low level temperature manipulation and low level ionic bond manipulation. Next, Proximate-JR aka Leon Newton. Leon was cybernetically enhanced and can fly, has super strength, can shoot concussive blasts, and enhanced agility, stamina, and durability. Finally, The Sentry of Doom aka Edward Elliot, formally known the Sentry of Truth. He abandoned the team and became their arch nemesis. The Tetrad was originally an exploratory group genetically engineered by the Engineer to protect him and his facilities. The Engineer is from the future and engineered the Tetrad based upon the most powerful superheroes. He would kidnap kids and genetically give them superpowers based on a previous superhero. For example Ductile-Woman is based on Bone-Girl, Static Man is based on Captain Cranium, Sentry of Fate and Sentry of Doom are based on Mech Man, and it is theorized Proximate-JR was going to be based on Alien, but the genetic manipulation destroyed his body forcing the Engineer to make him a cyborg. Along the line Sentry of Truth had enough of the Engineer and uncovered the truth about him kidnapping the Tetrad he would leave but not before severing all ties to the Tetrad and leaving on very poor terms. Eventually the Tetrad would see that Edward was right about the Engineer and escape as well although the Tetrad and Edward are still bitter enemies.
