Photographed at Studley Royal two days ago. I cant help thinking that in this mornings snow these Red Deer would have made for a very different photo.

It's great fun to look back in time and try to figure out what happened on a specific date. In this case, I'm also interested in a specific time--6:18 AM. So, I checked it out with a quick internet search. I learned that on 04-August-2014:

-Princeton Review released its eagerly awaited annual ranking of top party schools.

-Toledo tap water was deemed safe to drink.

-There was a major earthquake in China

-Tropical storm Iselle drenched Hawaii

-Hamas and Israel agreed to a 72 hour ceasefire

-James Brady, U.S. Press Secretary wounded during the Reagan assassination attempt, died

-The City Council of Walcott Iowa met at the city hall

All-in-all a rather quiet day in history. I never did find out what happened specifically at 6:18 AM, other than I was alone on the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf shooting this picture on a very foggy morning. Maybe it will make history.

Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

Laying there looking pretty.

look at the world inside you

because that’s the one that matters

it’s not the one around you

that sees you like everyone else

and how much can something mean that does not care about individuality?

- it can mean the world. the world around you.

look at the world around you

because that’s the one that matters

it’s not the one inside you

that is only known by yourself

and how much can something mean that only exists in yourself?

- it can mean the world. your world.

I feel like I complain too much about the things I have to do for school. but to be honest, I spend most of my time during a week on school work. I had two exams on friday and I was so nervous and studied all the time. I think I almost broke down once, but I didn’t. and I’m so glad it’s over. and there are only 5 and a half months left until school is over. I can do that. and I feel better now, I had a relaxing weekend so far and I won’t have that much stress next week.

I still have a tumblr, by the way. :)

A quick note: I've been thinking a lot lately, and I think I might begin some sort of project come new years. Maybe a 365, but more likely a 52 week. I've just been so lost lately when it comes to photography. Which is ridiculous because I've been living in one of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful places in the world. And I've been inspired -- god knows I've been inspired -- but I haven't been doing anything with the inspiration, I haven't been taking advantage of this new city I'm lucky enough to call home. But I'm back now. I'm back. I'm back and burning and so full of inspiration I think I might just burst. So I have decided to begin either a 365 day or 52 week project. A project that I know will push me to grow -- as a person, as a photographer, as an artist. I know it won't be easy. I know I'll want to quit many times. But I'm not going to. I'm going to push through. I'm going to rise to the challenges. I want to grow. I want to be better.

I'm excited.

I used to be eighteen and striving.

Now I'm nineteen and inspired.

Bring it on.

THE CHURCH OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

The church of San Giovanni Battista was built between 1244 and 1307, the date inscribed on a rock in the second column on the left looking towards the altar. Remodeled in the Baroque period and more recently between 1963 and 1964, it is a splendid example of Genoese Ligurian Gothic.

The façade is made of alternating vestments of white marble and dark green serpentine, with a slightly splayed pointed portal, flanked by a double pair of marble columns and surmounted by a lunette with an 18th century fresco depicting the Baptism of Christ. The splendid central rose window in white marble is a splendid example of ornate Gothic, attributed to Matteo and Pietro da Campiglio. From the central button, eighteen smooth and twisted columns radiate alternating from which intertwined trefoil arches branch off.

With a basilica plan with three naves, it has a progressive narrowing of the width of the aisles towards the entrance, with the dual effect of creating a perspective illusion and favoring the propagation of sound waves. Inside are preserved the baptismal font from 1360, a canvas of the Madonna del Rosario from the school of Luca Cambiaso, a painting depicting the Crucifixion by an unknown artist, probably a Genoese painter from the 17th century and the high altar from 1734. One of the columns bears an inscription engraved in medieval characters.

The bell tower with Ghibelline battlements rises alongside the apse area, an ancient medieval control tower with a rectangular plan, opened by Gothic mullioned windows with arches decorated with denticles, raised in the 15th century and remodeled in the 18th century after an earthquake.

Our temperatures in Alaska are rather mild for this time of year. Our cabin is located in one of the colder regions of the state - but temperatures are averaging in the mid-thirties during the day, and a mild eighteen degrees at night. We awoke to a heavy fog bank this morning and Jack Frost took out his paint brush and lightly touched every branch and twig around our cabin. In the afternoon sunlight even the tiniest weed took on a magical look.

Chichen Itza: Mayan ruins in Yucatan Mexico more... are the most visited Mayan ruins on the peninsula. Eighteen structures have been restored over the years. Pyramid Kukulcan is the tallest of them and allows a view from the top of all Chichen Itza. During the Spring and Fall equinoxes, (March 21 & Sept 21) the setting sun creates shadows down the steps of the pyramid that resemble a snake descending. This is a popular event to see and usually draws big crowds.

Following the graphic education. She was stting and drawing the Pompidou Centre. I kneeled two meters in front of her. Admiring her beauty and made some photos. She went on concentrated looking up at her object. I said amused that it is more easy to make a photo than a drawing. She smiled to me and we changed some words. I smiled back and walked on to see her never again in reality
