A half hour before sunset, eight Yellowbonnet GP35s lead an eastbound Santa Fe train upgrade into the horseshoe curve between Allard and Bealville. Taken on a glorious April 7, 1987. Scanned from a K200 slide.
I don't know if I like this at all. Also, I still feel obnoxious and a bit worthless. Therefore, there is no writing.
Please listen. 'Cause where I'm going to now, no one can ever hurt me. Where the well of human hatred is shallow and dry. Oh, I never wanted to change the world, but I'm looking for a new New Jersey. 'Cause tramps like us...baby, we were born to die.
Woe, woe is me. No one knows the trouble I see. When they hang Jeff Davis from a sourapple tree, I'll sit beneath the leaves and weep.

Day 8 and it's a Jag ... an XJ8 ... not mine :)
Shame it wasn't a nice colourful one, as the silver/grey doesn't show up the frost ... never mind, it's an 8 and that's all that counts :))
Here is a closer look at that Eight-Arch Bridge built in 1797 to connect Stackpole Court and the Home Farm with the New Deer Park and Stackpole Quay.
Watching the sunset with the eight ball. After 7, comes 8. I found this ball along the road and thought I'd include it in a few of my photos for 07 07 07. Minnesota, USA

For the past few months there have been a number of these Oor Wullie (a long-running cartoon character in The Sunday Post, a newspaper published by Dundee based publisher DC Thomson) dotted around in Dundee. I hadn't bothered to take any photos of them but a faint rainbow overhead last weekend tempted me to take a few.
Here is a contrast for you? Today Sydney is hovering around 10 degrees celsius, raining and grey. This photograph of Bondi was taken on the morning of the hottest day in summer 45.8 degrees celsius.
Both days in question are not nice, both you want to stay inside for, but which would you prefer?
I choose 45.8 as I was able to head to the beach early & get home early, before the mercury rose too high.

A Moorhen experiencing a tricky fine branches manoeuvre, or as old cockney rhyming slang would describe it 'in a bit of a two and eight' - State :)
This is quite a tight crop on the RAW file, as the action happened
at 500mm and was still small in my viewfinder frame. It's a bit soft due to the higher Auto ISO and enlargement, but i'd not seen a Moorhen doing this before and thought it worth a post
Mount Kōya (高野山 Kōya-san) (English: Koyasan) is the name of mountains in Wakayama Prefecture to the south of Osaka. Also, Kōya-san is a modifying word for Kongōbu-ji (金剛峯寺). There is no mountain officially called Kōya-san (高野山) in Japan.
First settled in 819 by the monk Kūkai, Mt. Kōya is primarily known as the world headquarters of the Kōyasan Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. Located in an 800 m high valley amid the eight peaks of the mountain (which was the reason this location was selected, in that the terrain is supposed to resemble a lotus plant), the original monastery has grown into the town of Kōya, featuring a university dedicated to religious studies and 120 temples, many of which offer lodging to pilgrims and the travelling public.
In 2004, UNESCO designated Mt. Kōya, along with two other locations on the Kii Peninsula, Yoshino and Omine; and Kumano Sanzan, as World Heritage Sites.
Koya-san is accessible primarily by the Nankai Electric Railway from Namba Station (in Osaka) to Gokurakubashi Station at the base of the mountain. A cable car from Gokurakubashi then whisks visitors to the top in 5 minutes. The entire trip takes about 1.5 hours on an express train or 2 hours by non-express.
Mom was taking great care of her youngsters who were staying very close. Seen outside the Los Angeles County Arboretum, Arcadia CA
Eight is a boy and Nine is a young/new adult. I prefer the sweet innocence of Eight but I think making two males in slightly different age groups was a smart move by Petworks.
