River Thames between Hampton Court and Sunbury on Thames.
This was one of those rare moments when everything comes together in a split second. I was composing the shot and spotted the rowing Eight out of the corner of my left eye an thought it'd make some nice foreground interest. What I didn't see but rather heard was the loud flapping of wings as the two swans swooped in from my right to land just where I'd have chosen if I could, Fortunately I shoot HDR so I was all set and instinctively pressed the shutter button.

With the weather closing in and rain imminent, it was time to go - but not before trying a couple of shots of this stream emerging from a culvert above and mingling with the Grand River a few feet below. I liked the richness of the greens with just a splash of red in the left corner from a Sumac. Using a warming polarizer and a small aperture, the leaves held still long enough for an 8 second exposure.
In the early evening Rabbitaur and Jilly left on the run.
They could see the snowflakes falling on the leaves of the tree turning the grass white.
The sky turning pink and starry, then when they got home, Rabbitaur took out his camera and put it on the wall neighbor's garden and took a picture of them, before returning to rest in the cozy barn.

I have had this 80mm crystal ball for a couple years and never used it, so I experimented with it yesterday. I set it in front of my computer screen with an image of water & oil that I took awhile back. There is a little moire effect (veritcal lines) in the ball, that I just learned about. It doesn't bother me so much as it is just in the center of the ball, and not on the entire image. It was a fun experiment and will most likely do this again.

Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
Rare Siberian visitor has spent the last eight days at Whitley Bay, North Tyneside - and people are travelling from all over the country to see it. Stunning views today.
HBW, guys!
Sorry haven't checked your streams yet, I still have a zillion school stuff to do. So I'm off! See ya! :)
PS. Archive photo. :P
On our last day before heading back to Seattle for our flight east, we did this pretty hike...not alot of elevation gain, but alot of beautiful scenery...
Clifton Beach is the start of an eight kilometer walk out to Cape Kidnappers headland. Not much surf along this stretch.
one proud Mama Mallard with her 8 ducklings crossing the trail we were walking on...talk about melting your heart :)
Oast houses are still a familiar sight in the English counties of Kent and Sussex in the South East, and Hereford and Worcester in the Midlands. An oast is an oven or kiln for drying hops used in brewing beer (lighter ale is brewed without hops). Ale has been brewed in England since Roman times but it was not until the C15th that hops were introduced from the Low Countries to make beer. There are three rooms in an oast: the kiln, the drying and the cooling rooms. When cool, the hops are baled and sent to the brewery. The distinctive conical roof on the top of the oast is a cowl which swivels with the wind to control the up-draught for the fire. In the 1930's the cowls began to be augmented with electric fans to control the fire; one of which can be seen at the base of the nearest kiln in the image. Whereas 50 years ago almost 100% of hops used in the UK brewery industry were grown in England, now there are less than 50 British farmers growing this crop and the majority of supplies come from Europe.
We would all love an extra day each week to accomplish the things we need to do.
I am going to take a break from this page to work on a project of digitally scanning my father's slide collection of many decades. This involves thousands of slides. But as a tribute to his memory I will then catalogue these photos and put them on a web page. When the task is completed I will give you the details. There are some quite historic pictures in the collection.
So until then, stay well.

Given human facial hair grows around .4mm per day, this is likely over 8 years of mustache.
In Rajasthan, long mustaches are a symbol of pride, masculinity, and cultural heritage. They represent valor and honor, historically associated with the Rajput warriors who sported them as a sign of their bravery. The fascination with long mustaches continues today, celebrated as part of Rajasthan's vibrant identity. Mustache contests are a popular feature in local fairs and festivals, where men showcase their impressive facial hair. These contests are judged on the length, thickness, and overall grooming of the mustaches.
This morning, quite early, when it was barely light, there were five bucks wandering through the side of our house. This one was the biggest. Four had antlers, two young ones and two mature and then one without antlers, an old buck, but you could see where his antlers had been.
This one in the photo had antlers on the right that were so well lined up that I didn't get a good shot of the number but if you see in large you can see there are two in front of the big back one.
The lighting was so bad that much editing had to be done to be able to see them properly. They all leave when the area gets brighter and don't come back through until dark.
The heat has brought out the dragonflies and I found this gem in the pond behind the workmen's parking lot in Las Gallinas.
School is back on. It's my last year of school before university!
I took this photo at the exact worst time, the two dogs are overlapped, so it looks like a creature from hell. Canadian sunsets are pretty though, I miss them.

A little Stink bug had just landed on a wooden board, close to where I stood, when this Wall Lizard came to check on a possible snack. Seeing what kind of insect it was, the lizard was performing a U turn when I captured it. I was glad it stopped to check on me, too :)
