In der Eider-Treene-Sorge Niederung, kurz ETS genannt, durchströmen die drei Flüsse, Eider, Treene und Sorge eine weite, marschähnliche Landschaft, welche durch ihre atemberaubende Weite eine ganz besondere Magie entfaltet, welche sich allerdings nicht auf dem ersten Blick erschliesst. Es braucht Zeit, diese strukturarme Landschaft zu erschliessen, mit ihrer beindruckenden Vogelvielfalt und Erlebnisdichte. Ob es jubelnde Lerchen sind, oder zigtausende Gänse, genauso wie Kranich und Singschwäne, welche auf ihrem Zug nach Norden oder zurück, zu Zehntausenden die Landschaft mit ihren wilden Rufen füllen oder den Himmel verdunkelnde Staren Schwärme, die ihre betörenden Strudel tanzen. Es ist unmöglich, sich nicht faszinieren zu lassen in dem Gefühl: Genauso wirkte und klang die Welt hier bereits vor tausenden von Jahren.

A female with 3 chicks were in the marina without worrying about us. It was the first time I photographed this species so closely.
Une femelle et ces petits étaient dans la marina sans se préoccuper de nous. C'était la première fois que je photographiais cette espèce de si près.

L'Eider est un canard de mer mais lors des migrations il arrive qu'on l'observe, pour notre plus grand bonheur, sur les plans d'eau à l'intérieur des terres.
The Eider is a sea duck but when migration happens it is observed, to our delight, the waters in the inland.
Les couples se suivent sur l'eau. Les femelles ne semblent pas être sur les nids. Aucun bébé en vue... L'an passé, le 15 juin, les bébés étaient en grand nombre sur l'eau avec les femelles et les mâles étaient presque tous partis. /
The couples follow each other on the water. Females do not appear to be on the nests. No babies in sight ... Last year, on June 15, many babies were out on the water with the females and the males were almost all gone.

I photographed a few at the end of May. They are very shy here, not an easy duck to photograph.
Photo prise dans le Bas-St-Laurent à la fin mai. Cet avant-midi là, les conditions étaient parfaites pour la photo et quelques couples étaient à porter de ma lentille (à 1200mm).
