In early 1888 Monet went back once more to the Mediterranean shores, four years after his first trip to the Riviera. He stayed at Château de la Pinède, a noble residence that had been turned into an artists' centre: he was welcomed there on the recommendation of Maupassant, whom he met on one of his trips to the Normandy coast. After scouting around the area for two days, he found a few subjects, especially the views of Antibes town from Juan-les-Pins. 'I am painting Antibes as a small fortified town glistening golden in the sun, and standing out against the beautiful blue and pink mountains.' When his initial attempts presented him with problems, Monet immediately became fixed on the idea of returning to Giverny, but he ended up staying in Antibes for five months.
Effect from taking a wide angle lens attachment for a point and shoot camera and holding it in front of my lens.
This photo of Yosemite, taken with my iPhone 14 Pro Max during a November road trip, was inspired by Ansel Adams' iconic style. Like Adams, I focused on capturing the sharp contrasts of light and shadow in the landscape. His black-and-white images often highlighted the textures of granite cliffs and expansive valleys, and l aimed to achieve a similar effect. Taken in broad daylight, my shot emphasizes bright highlights and deep shadows, much like Adams' work. While Adams used large-format film to capture such fine detail, the iPhone's advanced camera capabilities and editing tools allowed me to create a comparable image. The photo was shot during my road trip, where I had the chance to witness Yosemite's beauty firsthand. The result blends Adams' picture technique with modern photography , offered a fresh yet timeless perspective of this beautiful landscape.
