The lobby of the Edison Building. Yes, this was built in the 1930's (Depression Era) and yes, that is all marble and a big expensive mural in the back. It was also the first building to be lit at night, and have both heating and air conditioning... They were the power company after all.
The various colored marble made this shot pretty cool. Lots of tans and greens.
The Edison Walthall Hotel in Downtown Jackson, Mississippi. I can remember going to eat lunch at this hotel with my grandparents Francis & GL Edwards. I used to tell my parents I didn't feel like going to church and they would say to just go home with Grandmama and GL. I knew if I did that I would get to spend the afternoon with my grandparents and eat at the Edison Walthall.

This huge vacant site is adjacent to and just south of the proposed Orangeville Multi-Modal Transportation Center, looking east from Edison Highway. This site could include some combination of transit-oriented development, commuter parking and transit maintenance facilities, depending on what the brownfield can support. The Hopkins-Bayview Research Park is in the background.

Edison neighborhood sign in South Tacoma, Washington
The Edison neighborhood is located between 56th and 66th streets and Washington and Oakes streets.
On this date in 1877 Thomas A. Edison received a patent for the phonograph. This Edison cylinder is not that old though-- it's from 1913/1914.
This building served as the final freight agency at Edison, CA.. Reportedly in operation by 1947; closed 3-29-74. It may have been constructed elsewhere for a different function and moved to Edison. See Gustufson and Serpico, Coast Line Depots - Valley Division

Soon after Edison bought the land, he had this pier built to bring building materials from waiting barges in the Caloosahatchee River, as the river was too shallow at the shore. It once reached out 1500 feet and had boathouses, benches, and a summer house. It was a family favorite area for fishing and relaxing.
