Ed is a female turkey vulture (buzzard) that sustained an injury that makes it impossible for her to survive in the wild. Ed was rescued by the Arizona Wildlife Foundation. Ed is a sweetheart.

Ed was evidently someone who lived in the Cleveland area, since Charles W. Pohlman (who died in 1908) was a tailor from there.

Character design for Marina Bychkova's ED Contest 2011: Daphne.
What is it like to be loved by the Gods? What if your prayers were listened and answered? One has to wonder if the mysterious ways of the Gods would conform to our desires and if their intervention would really bring the help we hope for.
This doll is inspired by the myth of the nymph Daphne. The Gods indeed loved her.
Apollo burned with passion for her. Cupid had seen to it in revenge for Apollo’s mockery of the power of love. When pursued by her divine suitor, Daphne realized that she could not escape his unwanted attentions. She prayed to the Gods for mercy. They listened. They intervened. She was transformed into a beautiful bay leaf tree. Apollo, finally reaching her, wept on her breast as it turned into wood and swore that she would become his symbol: the symbol of triumph for generations to come.
Was she gifted with eternal beauty and glory for her virtue? Or was she forever deprived of her freedom and form? Was this the only way she could be saved?
This doll comes with bay leaf branches bracelets and headdress, root-shaped boot, and a bark-like tattoo on half of her body.
This is the Ed White display inside the Ad Astra Per Aspera exhibit and memorial for the Apollo 1 astronauts. What fascinates me about it is the mostly transparent display integrated into the glass cover between the visitors and the artifacts. It goes between descriptive text (pictured) and video, but it is opaque for the video except in some of the darker spots. It should be possible to use something like RFIDs so that visitors who get packages to help describe the place in other languages would trigger their language to be used for the displayed description by their proximity to the display.
It was hard to get any good pictures inside because of the crowd, so this is all I'll be uploading from the trip.
The memorial and exhibit are new additions to the Apollo / Saturn V Center at the Kennedy Space Center visitor location.

Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch to find our Halloween pumpkins and have a bit of fun. We tried to pick corn too but found most of the ears we picked were already claimed by catterpillars. Domo brought a bunch of friends like the Cactus Pups, Lego Minifigs, and others. One of our HPF buddies, Brandon, joined us and a good time was had by all.

I think my hallmark/trademark might be that I see more beauty in things than others, and I can never pick my favorite shot! For instance, as the sun set over the San Clemente Pier, I loved all the light!

Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

Preparing for some gallery shows this fall to celebrate 300,000,000 views! Printing a few dozen photographs in ~ 30"x40" formats and mounting/framing. Here are some close-to-final edits.
