While exploring the University of Minnesota’s 1,137-acre Arboretum, I was fortunate to observe and photograph this cute frog cleverly camouflaged in one of the lakes. The photo is a finalist in the Rainforest Alliance: 2011 "Picture Sustainability" Photo Contest . Public voting is currently open at: my.rainforest-alliance.org/site/PageNavigator/photocontes... . Kindly consider voting for my photo (number 2) in the wildlife category. Thank you, James Stilwell.

This project aims to address the vulnerability of urban communities to climate change in three medium-sized cities: San Salvador (El Salvador), Kingston (Jamaica) and Xalapa (Mexico) through the implementation of ecosystem-based adaptation approaches and their integration into urban planning.

In San Salvador, a degraded watershed will be restored with reforestation and conservation agriculture approaches. This will reduce runoff and erosion during heavy rainfall and increase ground water recharge.

World Chambers Congress Day 3: Entrepreneurship Ecosystems

Sixth edition of the International Conference Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality (TEEM'18), 24th - 26th October, 2018 in Salamanca (Spain).

Organized by GRIAL Research Group - University of Salamanca

Overbridge is a 70-acre natural area located in Rutherford County approximately eight miles east of Murfreesboro. It supports a globally rare Middle Tennessee cedar glade ecosystem that provides habitat for six state-listed plant species, as well as, leafy prairie clover (Dalea foliosa) and Pyne's ground plum (Astragalus bibullatus), which are both federally endangered plant species.

The natural area has a small stream running through it called Dry Creek. The east section of the property contains most of the cedar glade with some barrens occurring where deeper soils support perennial grasses like little bluestem and side oats grama. Both the cedar glades and the barrens are surrounded by patches of eastern red cedar and mixed hardwoods which include several oak species like chinkapin, post, and Shumard's along with blue ash, winged elm, and southern shagbark hickory. These are typical tree species associated with cedar glades, and they are usually stunted due to shallow soil conditions and drought conditions that maintain the openness of the glades.

A few small farms and single-family residences surround the natural area. It had once been part of a 260-acre farm owned by Overbridge Cattle Company and it was purchased by the State during foreclosure procedures in 1993. The Nature Conservancy of Tennessee has also been active here, and has assisted in protecting Pyne's ground plum by fencing the area. Management needs require control of invasive species such as common privet, Queen Ann's lace, and common teasel.

The Unity Island Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project will restore 10 acres of coastal wetland habitat. The project is a prime example of a much larger campaign for beneficial use of dredged material in the Great Lakes region.

100% degradation means that all the services in the category were degraded in 2050 compared with 2000, while 50% improvement could mean that three out of six services were enhanced and the rest were unchanged or that four out of six were enhanced and one was degraded. The total number of services evaluated for each category was six provisioning services, nine regulating services, and five cultural services.
