Georgia has an especially diverse ecological landscape. This was a combination of a photographic PowerPoint and a very accessible biology lesson on what makes Georgia so special. We learned some of the basic elements of ecology and did some activities that relate to Georgia's biodiversity.

The Rock Islands of Palau are a collection of several hundred limestone and coral uprises in the Palauan archipelago. They are extremely important to Palau as they support biodiversity, fisheries, tourism, and cultural values. The islands are also famous for their beaches, blue/turquoise lagoons, and have made UNESCO heritage status. There are over 746 species of fish, over 385 corals, 13 species of shark and manta rays, 7 species of giant clams, and all the endemic birds and over half of the endemic plants of Palau.

Explorations of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem with Dr. Gary Ketterling. This is a field experience in which participants explored the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and its many stakeholders. Ecological concepts such as trophic cascade, predator-prey interactions, wolf reintroduction, food webs, inter and intra species interactions, climate change, and human impact were discussed. Participants had an opportunity to visit with researchers, talk to advocates for bison, ranchers, investigate the National Yellowstone Archives, and time for pictures and film for their classrooms.
