début de l'Eclipse de lune avec mars

I tried a number of different settings and had the camera jammed against the window frame before I got this picture.

On August 21, 2017 the greater Atlanta Metro Area was in the path of a solar eclipse...the path of totality traveling across the entire USA. A first in many years. Our area was in the 97% maximum blockage path making it much darker than usual...however this image was taken when the blockage was at approximately 20-25%

The Moon was too shy in the New Year night!! :))

Today I will start my third year here on Flickr, I would like to thank each one of you for the great impact you made in my heart, and in my life... it became a daily routine to visit my friends’ streams and share everything with them, more than photos... words and thoughts, smiles and laughs, a lot of emotions and feelings, learning a lot from them, everyday I learn something new... in life!!

Thank you so much everyone for all your support and wonderful words that brightened my days through the past two year... some of you have been my friends for almost that long, and some for few month... but you all became a part of my life, love you all!! ♥ :)

Wish you a wonderful weekend!!! :)

Some info :)

Lunar Eclipse

A lunar eclipse is an eclipse which occurs whenever the moon passes behind the earth such that the earth blocks the sun’s rays from striking the moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, there is always a full moon the night of a lunar eclipse. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon’s location relative to its orbital nodes. The next total lunar eclipse occurs on December 21, 2010.

Blue Moon

A blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly pattern. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year. The extra days accumulate, so every two or three years (7 times in the 19-year Metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon." Different definitions place the "extra" moon at different times.

During the eclipse in full totality, making the whole horizon look like a sunset. Was an amazing experience.

Eclipse of the moon 28/09/2015

Le Temple (79) - France

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks the Sun's rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. The most recent total lunar eclipse occurred on December 10, 2011.

Today is the big day! Our very own Bohus is in Nashville to capture the 2017 Eclipse. Here's a telescope sporting a modified WonderPana filter holder along with our ND1000 + ND16 filters stacked up to knock the sun down by 14 stops. That'll make it possible to shoot even before the total eclipse. (We won't mention the implications of his choice to wear a Radio Shack T-shirt :)

... thru the trees out front. During peak of about 75% eclipse over North Texas.

There was a 95% eclipse this morning in Chipping campden, England. Very beautiful.

This lunar eclipse shot was taken from my backyard back on a clear winter night of the winter solstice December 2010. The last lunar eclipse happening on a winter solstice was 372 years prior.

Had to shoot at ISO 1600 as it was total darkness outside. The moon is not perfect, but I am so glad that the stars were also captured in the dark night sky.

Shot as is with just some sharpness and white balance adjustments.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Eclipse in Columbia, SC

Lamentablemente en nuestra zona el día del eclipse estuvo nublado. Por suerte, se fue despejando y se pudieron ver los últimos momentos del fenómeno. Algo es algo...

Shot of the 'almost' total eclipse of the sun on 20th March 2015, taken from the War Memorial in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis

Needs viewing in large size. I've been incompetent so the colour space is wrong - I think. View it in anything other than a browser and the colours are much nicer.

Kind of HDR to make the stars appear (not added in software but they're not visible without playing)

Sometimes pointing your camera at the right place, at the right time, and firing a burst of photos off with a large dose of luck is what it takes.

Actress Ashley Greene arrives to the premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" during the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on June 24, 2010 in Los Angeles, California.

We shared the solar eclipse in the path of the totality in Judsonia, Arkansas at our brother-in-law’s ranch, with family and friends. It was hot, perfect viewing sky, instead of the clouds and rain the weathermen predicted. The cows began to lie down, the birds fell silent, it got dark as night and the stars came out! As the light from the sun began to shine more as the moon passed, roosters crowed and the cows got back up! It was just amazing!

I believe this is an eclipse male wigeon on Park Hall Lake. It was quite friendly, coming in quite close for this shot.

The eclipse allows for a long exposure of the full moon revealing some of the stars beyond (apparently part of the Pisces constellation).

Eclipse de luna del 15 junio 2011

Part of the reason for choosing this location to view the eclipse was the thought that at worst, I'd get a chance to railfan while I was watching and, with a bit a luck, I might get a chance at combining the eclipse with a train.

As it turned out, Amtrak for once was running on time, perhaps a bit early, this day. The train passed just a few moments before totality started. Still this view with some different light/tonal textures to it was worth capturing. Normally, a shot at this time of day would be very harsh, intense lighting.
