The annual Golden Eagle Festival in Bayan-Ölgii Province, Mongolia is a recognition of the Kazakh practice of hunting with eagles and an attempt to foster these skills into the future.
But it is more than that: it is a celebration of the rich cultural traditions of the between 100- and 200-thousand ethnic Kazakhs who live here in Western Mongolia.

The artist invested a lot of effort into the eagle sculpture, using old surfboards for the wing tips. However, with the first strong gust of wind later in the morning, the sculpture attempted to take flight. Unfortunately, the poor eagle fell over and broke a wing.
Running for QR, 2496H and 2472 lead an eastbound railset through Gailes just before noon on a beautiful cloudless spring day. This train then powered through to Corinda before turning back for Wacol.
