Week One.
This is the start of a new (& slightly scary) project.
After a bit of gentle coaxing from Nathalie Donado
, I've decided to start the new year with a 52 week self-portraiture project. Each week I'll be shooting and sharing a new self portrait for the whole of 2014. I'm far from comfortable with self portraiture and I'm certainly not particularly skilled at it, so I'm hoping that this series will be a way to improve and to have a bit of fun at the same time :] Once a month, Nathalie (who is also doing a 52 week project ) & I will pick a theme and challenge each other to shoot our selfie as a kind of overseas collab. We're also toying with the idea of opening the themes up for you guys to shoot & share your own versions too so do let us know whether any of you might fancy that! I might not post all of the photos onto flickr, so if you're keen to follow this little adventure do follow my facebook page!
So without further ado, here is week one!

I think I'll name this little guy "Rex". Don't ask me why......that just popped into my head. I was taking shots of him this morning and happened to click this one just as he blinked. It looks like he is asleep......he's not! This one isn't as sharp as I'd hoped for, but couldn't resist posting it because of him blinking just as I took the shot.

Happy Feathery Friday! Sleepy Heads week.
The two coots kept vigil while the teal slept. Always a treat to get to see a green-winged teal and almost never as close as this. A good day to be out birding.

A photo I've used before, but in a way I haven't.
Who would like a little intoxicated fourth of July poetry? If not, then no need to read any farther.
The world shimmers before me, unfolding like a desert.
Unable to take my eyes off of your unwavering mirage.
In this arid world, you've become my moisture,
and I revel at the chance to drink from your lips.
Might've been more to that, but we'll never know. I wasn't thinking straight, and I managed to leave my moleskine on the floor; dog drool isn't great on ink.
Or "Sleeping with one eye open"?
Either way, I haven't been sleeping well lately... listening to and watching too much horrific news about the attack in Israel.
The good news is that I am starting to feel my creative energy flowing again. I don't know why I can't create consistently but seem to work in bursts that die out. I get too consumed and too drawn in and then burn out. I disappear for a while and then...after some time...I come back!

I went for a walk down to the VIllage with my brother earlier. Very nice. It was , and still is drizzling some nice warm rain. Took a brolly, but it didn't get to be in this photo. Sadly...Pyked my mother's boots as I could not be asked to take my socks off to go down there.

Taking an afternoon nap on a park bench in Calzada de los Ninos Heroes park, Centro Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico.. Should be good for a stiff neck resting on the irony park bench.
The sixth Deadly Sin is named by the Church Acedia or Sloth. In the world it calls itself Tolerance; but in hell it is called Despair. It is the accomplice of the other sins and their worst punishment. It is the sin which believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, loves nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and only remains alive because there is nothing it would die for.

Netherlands, Rotterdam, Mathenesserlaan, FFWD Dance Parade 2007.
August 2009 update: This year's best shots will be posted in the Dance Parade 2009-set in JeromesPOV, over the coming weeks and months. The majority of my Dance Parade 2009 impressions can be found sooner in a big set of this day in JeromesPOF. (already posted some, more to follow later).
Barely 24 hours after arriving from a long return trip of a 4-week vacation in Finland and Sweden (> 4000 pics to sift through), I fell straight into the party fun of the Dance Parade. Many beautiful and happy people enjoying themselves in the sunny streets of my home town.
Quite a lot of people at the parade asked me for the location of my website. If you are one them: welcome to my photostream. :-)
TIP: If you already have a (free) Yahoo-account, it is easy to get an (also free) Flickr-account. If you wish, add me as your contact, this makes it easier to follow my photostream..
I am very happy about the pictures that I shot at the Dance Parade. Thanks all for participating!
I shall publish the Dance Parade photos like this:
Top Shots
In this stream ( www.flickr.com/photos/jeromespov/ ) I shall only post what I consider my very best pictures. As I am publishing about different subjects and alternating styles, this will be over a period of 2 or 3 months. Most of these shots are people on the parade trucks, but also some audience shots (like this one).
Request Shots and other cool pics
I got many requests for groups shots. I also have a number of other cool takes that are not good or original enough to post here. I have set up a separate photostream for these, so all can enjoy: www.flickr.com/photos/jeromeshootspartypeople/
- I have uploaded a first small batch of mostly request shots. I shall populate this new stream in two or three more upload sessions.
- Note that this is a new photostream. This means that initally, photos cannot be found easily (e.g. through tags), So use the link and bookmark it.

Through closed eyes, I see the rainbow without the storm
Through closed eyes, I see the things my heart desires."
Self portrait - I'm really feeling this whole black and white look this week. There is a certain beautiful mood which it portrays that you can't substitute. I've seen this style of contrasty film inspired black and white going around for a while.

My take on a photo I saw on Alex Stoddard's photostream. Inspired by that one. Couldn't find the link to the original image now.
The heat is overwhelming, funny how when it's summer some wish for cool and when it's cold we wish for warmth. Right now I'm wishing I could figure out how to remove the anti alias from my captures, any advice in settings?
Self portrait test shot for my photography class. I always test with my digital first to see if everything will look okay with my film camera.
Explore #230!
Can't imagine why this would have made explore but a lovely thought.
A kiss to all of you who encourage me every day and let me know I'm not alone.
A kiss to all of you who take me with you on your travels through foreign lands far and wide.
A kiss to all of you who believe in me, so that I may believe a little more in myself. You're all a blessing... each and every one.

What people do on Friday.
The best three shots each week, shot from the HIP, on a Friday. Inspired by John Brack’s “Collins St., 5pm” - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_St.,_5_pm the rules are simple;
•Do not use the view finder or LCD screen when taking aim; ‘shoot from the hip’
•Do not review, delete etc. until home.
•Only post photos taken on a Friday.
Though not a rule, unofficially this is a project about/featuring people; perhaps occasionally an animal. It is after all about the day, Friday and our relationship with the end of the (western), working week.
What's the odds of blinking in two of the images at the wrong time? By the time I got to the last shot... if looks could kill, I'd be dead on the spot.
The triplets were three separate images taken manually, in fairly quick succession (no motor drive, or whatever it's called these days). Then stacked and blended in Photoshop.
