About:
Lake Matheson, most famous for it's picture of the Southern Alps reflecting in it's water, but the view from above is less known.
This was shot during my scenic flight tour over the Southern Alps, it's a real 'eyegasm' experience, took 180 pictures during the 45 min flight and I was not shooting continously! but also enjoying the scenery.

Technical stuff:
Exposure: 1/500 sec at f/5,6 at -1 EV
Taken with: Nikon D90 and 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 at 28
LR3 post processing: juggled with the sliders until I was happy with the colors, added a lot of recovery, contrast, boosted the blacks to +16, adjusted the tone to correct a slight magenta cast. Crop angle was also very important to have a pleasing composition (river running from bottom left to top right)

First of all, many thanks to @tstan, @ndru & @chiaoju for the trip today. We had to endure uncertainty as it rained from 2PM till 6PM. Basically, it was a gamble but I'm glad the gamble paid off. The view as usual was crazy.
Post Process Info: Saturation, layering, dodging & burning, borders & watermark, text, overlays, gaussian blur and selective lightroom modifications.
Enough crap. To get an eyegasm, view large.

My favorite TV shows have been Fastlane, 24 and CSI. Nothing beats the beauty of CSI in HDTV. You gotta love Jerry Bruckheimer, the EP, and his team of cinematographers and HDTV shaders who make Florida's rainbow of colors pop on the screen. McG still has my heart for his "camera effects" in Fastlane but CSI is an eyegasm in HD.
There is a reason behind my capturing and uploading this photo. Only HDTV could reveal the effect. Can you see what is unique about her face?

Blue jays are incredibly gorgeous birds but they are sadly much maligned by some in the birding community and the bulk of that dislike for Blue jays came from the patron saint of birding, John Audubon. He said this about the bird, "Who could imagine,” he mused, “that a form so graceful, arrayed by nature in a garb so resplendent, should harbour [sic] so much mischief;—that selfishness, duplicity, and malice should form the moral accompaniments of so much physical perfection!”
Happily the image of the Blue jay is improving as we learn even more about these incredibly gregarious and intelligent birds.
