My first experiment with HDR. I like the look, but I might have over-done it in post processing. What do you think?

Experimenting with black and white again :) I am amazed how many things that you can do in BW!

One of my favorite bw photo. I just wish that this hibiscus had a longer staminal column :)

Have a great day my friends!

Not my ordinary type of photography but it was fun

I still cannot tell you what they are.

I found an old broken kaleidoscope and thought of experimenting with some long shutter speeds.

one evening a few years ago i met an artist at this location ... it's one of my favorite spots along the coast, and is a wonderful place to watch the light play on a cloudy or overcast evening ... he had some charcoal sketchs he was doing while we talked, and then he pulled out some watercolor paint and in a minute the sketch had turned into a moody and almost eerie representation of the changing light.

so i've tried an experiment with a ortonized b&w image (see below), and tried to change the light and mood by adding some colors, but not with paint ... just using textures only ... i've used a texture by dyrk wyrst, and a couple of my own cloud textures and tried to create the moody and sometimes eerie light i love to watch at this spot ...

CALLA EXPERIMENT

This was a very pretty watercolor, until I got my 'freak on' and morphed into my ''EXPERIMENTAL MODE''....I simply went wild with that ELEGANT WRITER PEN and a little Pastel too, on top of my watercolor. And if you think Watercolor brings lots of fun surprises...you should try the Elegant Writer Pen...:) ♥

I thought I would put this little tutorial about the Elegant Writer Pen up again...:)

I use mostly size 1.3mm Extra Fine

I bought mine at my local Hobby Lobby arts & crafts store, near the Calligraphy section.

They are available online at various art sources also.

The cost is around three dollars.

There are several ways to use these pens in sketching/painting.

I usually draw first in pencil, then very lightly go over the pencil line with the pen, skipping some of them, not to overdo the ink.

I then barely touch the edge of the ink line with a wet(with water) brush which results in an explosion of the ink line.

You can also thoroughly wet the ink for another effect.

Once the ink has been wet with water and dried it will not ''explode'' again.

Once it dries you can add more ink if needed...and repeat procedures.

You can add watercolor after the ink has dried, or even before...but be careful doing this as ''mud'' comes easily...:)

You'll want to experiment and play with it before using it on a ''serious'' sketch or painting...:)

I have a ''set'' on my page here for all my Elegant Writer sketches & paintings.

Karlyn Holman has some wonderful examples and info. in her most recent book ''WATERCOLOR WITHOUT BOUNDARIES''...One of my favorite Art books of all time...♥♥♥

The winter has been too long!

I picked up a 3-drawer McCobb chest and base recently, and started playing around with the short 2' base - I put a cabinet on it, and then put it in this spot, where a small pedestal with a studio ceramic piece sat before. Now the chest of drawers is sitting on the floor in the bedroom, and I wonder if this combo works here? Kind of interrupts the entry to the living room... but kinda cool, too. (we're having a reception next weekend, prompting all this re-arranging)

Canon EOS GII EF 50mm TRI-X 400

Watercolor sketch quickly done on a small scrap of paper. I was attempting to render the glow from a candle. I was painting mostly wet into wet and kind of like the way the water and pigments flowed to create this image.

This is my "Experiment in LEGO". This was done in Lego Digital Designer (LDD) in the LDD Extended mode. Each of the colors is from the color chart in the sequence presented in the LDD program. The LXF file is included if you are interested. The render was done with POV-Ray. The back screen is made of 8x16 tiles in Metalized Silver. What is missing from the colors is the Metalized Gold, it seems C3PO took off with it! Also missing is the last 4 Legacy colors, I was lazy, wanted to keep it just to four rows.
