What a beautiful day we have had, today! It was so calm down at the sea, this morning and these guys were doing some fishing ~ I've been told they catch cod but I honestly wouldn't have a clue if that is right or wrong!!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!
Lacking in inspiration again today. Possibly because I had my flu vacc yesterday and woke up this morning with mother of all colds., despite the fact that there’s little evidence to suggest it can affect you - it being a ‘live ‘ vaccine.Just to be on the safe side i did a Lateral Flow Test which thankfully turned out negative.

Red Deer - Cervus elaphus
and his little mate!! (Sika)
Scottish Highlands
The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest deer species. The red deer inhabits most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Asia Minor, Iran, parts of western Asia, and central Asia. It also inhabits the Atlas Mountains region between Morocco and Tunisia in northwestern Africa, being the only species of deer to inhabit Africa. Red deer have been introduced to other areas, including Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Peru, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina. In many parts of the world, the meat (venison) from red deer is used as a food source.
The red deer is the fourth-largest deer species behind moose, elk and sambar deer. It is a ruminant, eating its food in two stages and having an even number of toes on each hoof, like camels, goats and cattle. European red deer have a relatively long tail compared to their Asian and North American relatives. Subtle differences in appearance are noted between the various subspecies of red deer, primarily in size and antlers, with the smallest being the Corsican red deer found on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia and the largest being the Caspian red deer (or maral) of Asia Minor and the Caucasus Region to the west of the Caspian Sea. The deer of central and western Europe vary greatly in size, with some of the largest deer found in the Carpathian Mountains in Central Europe.Western European red deer, historically, grew to large size given ample food supply (including people's crops), and descendants of introduced populations living in New Zealand and Argentina have grown quite large in both body and antler size. Large red deer stags, like the Caspian red deer or those of the Carpathian Mountains, may rival the wapiti in size. Female red deer are much smaller than their male counterparts.
The European red deer is found in southwestern Asia (Asia Minor and Caucasus regions), North Africa and Europe. The red deer is the largest non-domesticated land mammal still existing in Ireland. The Barbary stag (which resembles the western European red deer) is the only member of the deer family represented in Africa, with the population centred in the northwestern region of the continent in the Atlas Mountains. As of the mid-1990s, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria were the only African countries known to have red deer.
In the Netherlands, a large herd (ca. 3000 animals counted in late 2012) lives in the Oostvaarders Plassen, a nature reserve. Ireland has its own unique subspecies. In France the population is thriving, having multiplied fivefold in the last half-century, increasing from 30,000 in 1970 to approximately 160,000 in 2014. The deer has particularly expanded its footprint into forests at higher altitudes than before. In the UK, indigenous populations occur in Scotland, the Lake District, and the South West of England (principally on Exmoor). Not all of these are of entirely pure bloodlines, as some of these populations have been supplemented with deliberate releases of deer from parks, such as Warnham or Woburn Abbey, in an attempt to increase antler sizes and body weights. The University of Edinburgh found that, in Scotland, there has been extensive hybridisation with the closely related sika deer.
Several other populations have originated either with "carted" deer kept for stag hunts being left out at the end of the hunt, escapes from deer farms, or deliberate releases. Carted deer were kept by stag hunts with no wild red deer in the locality and were normally recaptured after the hunt and used again; although the hunts are called "stag hunts", the Norwich Staghounds only hunted hinds (female red deer), and in 1950, at least eight hinds (some of which may have been pregnant) were known to be at large near Kimberley and West Harling; they formed the basis of a new population based in Thetford Forest in Norfolk. Further substantial red deer herds originated from escapes or deliberate releases in the New Forest, the Peak District, Suffolk, Lancashire, Brecon Beacons, and North Yorkshire, as well as many other smaller populations scattered throughout England and Wales, and they are all generally increasing in numbers and range. A census of deer populations in 2007 and again in 2011 coordinated by the British Deer Society records the red deer as having continued to expand their range in England and Wales since 2000, with expansion most notable in the Midlands and East Anglia.
I'm starting to expand my identification challenge (or should that be challenged identification) into grasshoppers and crickets. They are particularly difficult because colour is so variable within species
This is one of three of what I think are species photographed during a walk across Meols Common. I've identified it as a common field grasshopper, largely based on the red on the tip of the abdomen.

Thanks for taking a look! I hope you all are having a wonderful week!
This is the oldest Wesleyan Chapel that has been in continuous use since being built. Wesley preached here and it is a remarkable example of Non conformist architecture. He recommended the octagonal shape to avoid conflict with the established church. The chapel was later expanded so becoming an elongated octagon. On the right is the Church Hall built about 100 years after the Chapel.

ODC - POETRY is the topic for Sunday ~ December 19th, 2021
To me "Pictures are poems without word" I used to have that on the back of my business cards when I sold stuff and bazaars and a gallery. It was said way back by “A picture is a poem without words” -" This was said by Horace who was a Roman lyric poet during Augustus period."
The balloons came overhead again last night. Going to miss seeing them when we leave Thursday!
This is a fourth image that was captured back in July while exploring Pewsey Downs in Wiltshire.
As with the previous image, the light was having to continually break through the clouds. This image captures the light finally able to dominate, revealing the landscape below as well as expanding what can be viewed towards the horizon.

Light not only expands but also reflects. This is so visible through the picture here captured in Mahabalipuram. It was a beautiful and quite morning, and this scene touched my heart so deeply.
It is the way of the light in our heart too. It not only expands our perception, but it also helps us to come to a point of reflection. Self reflection.
So be inspired folks, and enjoy a week ahead full of light.

So first of all sorry, I didn’t post this sooner. (School) now about the build.
I really enjoyed the grain technique from Kursk v1, but I felt like the scene was missing an element of carnage. It was the biggest tank battle in history after all. The t 34 is Brickmania. I had the instructions from a book and was like why not go all Brickmania Tanks figs everything. I was also inspired to add onto this scene after watching a really cool video about anti tank tactics on the eastern front www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxJZJflMEiw One of these tactics included climbing on the back of the tank, opening the engine compartment with a hatchet and throwing a grenade into the engine compartment.
Construction criticism appreciated.
I visited a preview showing at the newly expanded San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA) last week and was particularly drawn to the giant abstract paintings of Gerhard Richter, a German painter born in 1932.
Scroll down to see more abstract color.

I didn't even manage to see a fraction of the art on display in the museum; at 110,000 sq. ft. it is now the largest contemporary art museum in the country and the largest of any museum in northern California. I think my annual member's pass has been a good investment as I will need to go back many times to see it all.
Best of all, photography is permitted! I only brought my crop sensor with macro lens because I didn't want to carry much weight, so these are only small sections of the large paintings.

Horsey Windpump was the starting point for our walk that gave us the greatest surprise of the week. Taking us via the beach we came across a small colony of seals basking beside the crashing waves. An exciting moment for us all.

The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

Ladner, BC Canada
One of the best ways to get a feeling for the Fraser Estuary is from a small boat such as a canoe or kayak. Although the Fraser River powers its way through the estuary in three main channels, there are numerous backwaters where the current is not as strong nor the wakes from passing tugboats and freighters as intimidating. Try launching at Deas Slough and explore the nearby Ladner Marsh area.
The heart of the slough is equidistant from either Ferry Road or Deas Island Park. If you want to expand your journey beyond the slough, investigate the secluded channels of Ladner Marsh and the South Arm Marshes Wildlife Management Area that begins west of the Ferry Road boat launch and includes all of the delta between Deas and Westham Islands.

This is a good location to catch buses on the 200 and 300, on the way in to the airport and also on the return. Which ever way the sun is shining there's always a good spot to find (and it's quiet too!).
Volvo B5LH / Gemini 3 number 584 (SJ67 MGV) 'Fab U Bus' strolls along here in it's gorgeous rainbow colours, in partnership with Pride Edinburgh.
Brett Herriot from Pride Edinburgh says
We are delighted to develop our partnership with Lothian, in this year where prides around the world mark the 50th Anniversary of the stonewall uprising the global starting point for the pride movement and in Lothians Centenary year its a potent marker of how far we have come on the journey to equality for all irrespective of colour, creed, gender or sexuality. The new Pride bus will be a shining beacon in the city and will showcase Lothians inclusive working environment and the welcoming service it provides for all citizens of the capital city.
Gaynor Marshall, Lothian’s Communications Director said:
Lothian are thrilled to be expanding our support for Pride Edinburgh as their official transport partner for this year. As one of the largest employers in Edinburgh with over 2500 people across our business, Pride Edinburgh shares our ethos of creating a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion. We really look forward to seeing our amazing, eye-catching and vibrant bus on the streets around Edinburgh and the Lothians celebrating the diversity of our Capital City.
