Construction is booming in the Rainey Street area of downtown Austin, Texas with half a dozen major projects underway and scheduled for completion within the next two years.

Lewis was staying with us this weekend and we decided that Saturday would be a “big cycle” day and after a good 36.5 km (almost 23.5 miles) we certainly had a good cycle!

This was taken at a “water stop” looking across Western Gailes golf course and the sea to Alisa Craig and that container ship! I took this shot with my new iPhone 12 Pro.

Barred Owl

The Barred Owl (Strix varia), or Northern Barred Owl, is a true owl native to eastern North America. Adults are large, and are brown to grey with barring on the chest. Barred owls have expanded their range to the west coast of the United States, where they are considered invasive. Mature forests are their preferred habitat, but they are also found in open woodland areas. Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, but they are also known to prey upon other small animals such as reptiles and amphibians.

We haven't seen the rain that other parts of the country have, so our little local stream is running quite low at the moment.

The ice shelves along the western shore of Lake Michigan seem to be growing day by day. They are interesting to look at, but very dangerous to explore. They will extend far out into the lake and, if a climber falls through a crack, rescue is practically impossible. It would be like being trapped in an ice cave.

The noise of the volcano and it's power as the lava flows in to the ocean is phenominal. A completely unstoppable force of nature and I can't believe I was lucky enough to have the chance to photograph it. It was, however, a shame that the experience was somewhat ruined by inconsiderate tourists with no respect for other people or the volcano.

You can watch my YouTube Video and see the entire 'behind the scenes' shoot. Warts and all.

The camp was just what Perrin expected. The Tinker wagons were small houses on wheels, tall wooden boxes lacquered and painted in bright colors, reds and blues and yellows and greens and some hues to which he could not put a name. The Traveling People's clothes were even more colorful than the wagons - and seemingly chosen at random. The Tuatha'an sang and danced, cooked and ate around their campfires. The children ran and played everywhere, hideandseek among the wagons, climbing in the trees around the camp, laughing and rolling on the ground with the dogs. Not a care in the world, for anyone.

"I have heard a story since last we met, and if you have not heard it yet, it might interest you." Raen said.

"I'll listen," Elyas replied.

"It begins in the spring two years ago, with a band of the People who were crossing the Waste. A dying Aiel woman crawled to the wagons. She seized the Seeker of that band by his coat, and this is what she said, word for word. 'Leafblighter means to blind the Eye of the World, Lost One. He means to slay the Great Serpent. Warn the People, Lost One. Sightburner comes. Tell them to stand ready for He Who Comes With the Dawn. Tell them ...' And then she died. Leafblighter and Sightburner," Raen added to Perrin, "are Aiel names for the Dark One."

"Something they learned in the Blight," Elyas mused. "But none of it makes sense. Slay the Great Serpent? Kill time itself? And blind the Eye of the World?"

Perrin tried puzzling out the Aiel woman's message, but it made no more sense to him than it had to Raen or Elyas. The silence around the campfire was broken only by the music and laughter drifting from other parts of the nightshrouded camp.

Early tests of the Expand-o-Ray were rather hap-hazard. The first human subject wasn't a willing participant to the test. Indeed, his friend sneaked up to his space-base and zapped him with it as a practical joke.

There then followed the problem of what to do to restore the victim to his normal size. The first thing the spacemen did was to get their computer to put the kettle on and make a nice cup of tea. Sadly it took quite a long time to do this. Fortunately this did give the spacemen enough time to find a giant mug for the tea to go in.

Once they'd had a nice brew, the answer became obvious. The Shrink-o-Ray was quickly invented and normality was restored.

As to why the spacemen enjoyed the taste of boiled leaves: that remained an enigma...

Kingsbury Water Park, a country park in north Warwickshire.

It is located north of Birmingham and lying on the River Tame. It is owned and managed by Warwickshire County Council. It is renowned for its birdlife, and is popular with birdwatchers. It is bordered on the western edge by the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.

The area was previously the site of gravel extraction pits that were operated by the Midland Gravel Company. The lakes were created from the craters left behind after the gravel had been taken out. The Water Park was opened on 24 May 1975 with two lakes and 123 acres. It has been expanded over the years and as of 2011 has fifteen lakes in an area covering over 600 acres. The Park welcomed 50,000 visitors in its first year, a number which had expanded to 350,000 in 2007.

365/2021 - Expanding Horizons - Day 176 June 25

The Earth’s newest land expands in dramatic fashion in this view looking down on land a quarter mile or more further out than the old coastline. Red hot lava breaks out of the crusted over lava delta, pouring into the sea and literally boiling the ocean water into a cloud of laze. It’s amazing to think of the huge volume of lava required to feed such a massive amount of new land, with the coastal mass expanding over a 2 mile wide section. By this point in the eruption the volume had already decreased from an estimated peak of 26,000 gallons of lava per second flying out of Fissure 8 at 18 miles per hour. The sometimes violent interaction between 2,000 degree lava and the cool Pacific waters was spectacular to behold. This view is from 3,000 feet up in our Paradise Helicopters charter.

As the 21st century dawned, an emerging generation of artists expanded the performance of self-fashioning, in which dress functions as a signifier of disidentification with the dominant social orders; their aim was to formulate modes of expression that affirm communal identity. In an age when issues of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, and sovereignty dominate national and geopolitical discourse, textiles, "as dense and multivalent sites of encryption," may, art historian Julia Bryan-Wilson argues, "alert others to our sense of self and signal our attempt to collectively belong."

In 2003 Liz Collins created "Pride Dress", in collaboration with designer Gary Graham, as part of a series of representations of the seven deadly sins. Today, the tattered gown with its torn and distressed flags precariously tacked together transcends its initial signification to reverberate with the roiling gender wars that rend the fabric of American society.

Lacking in inspiration again today. Possibly because I had my flu vacc yesterday and woke up this morning with mother of all colds., despite the fact that there’s little evidence to suggest it can affect you - it being a ‘live ‘ vaccine.Just to be on the safe side i did a Lateral Flow Test which thankfully turned out negative.

Expanded upon pattern. Six feet across, made with I love this yarn from Hobby Lobby in light grey, took 7-8 7oz skeins. It's aptly named for I frogged a lot near the end, plenty of yarn scattered about while I deciding how the last foot should be and to keep it from rippling. A 2015 WIP finished. Now if I can keep it up! ; D

So cloudy and yet you feel like you can see forever!
