Existence

"what i like about her is that she blooms whether you water her or not. whether you give her light or not. she exists without your existence." - iambrillyant

Autumn is full of colors and for a person with a camera it is a good part of the year. But when I distract myself from the autumn beauties and remember that autumn is a blatant sign that another year of life is passing, that a cold and sad winter is ahead, I feel creepy.

~at the edge of this universe

I close my eyes and feel the texture of brick on my fingers in my mind. I try to imagine the wall that surrounds your heart, so I can best devise a plan to breach it.

There are no walls at the edge of this universe...

absence of gravity is the limit of space existence.

A macro shot of a sand dollar.

Sand dollars, like all members of the order Clypeasteroida, possess a rigid skeleton known as a test. The test consists of calcium carbonate plates arranged in a fivefold radial pattern.

Dead individuals are commonly found with their empty test devoid of all surface material and bleached white by sunlight.

I was never aware of their existence until my visit to Coco Plum Beach, Bahamas.

It's on the north end of Great Exuma island, a spot that has become renowned for its shelling and the wonderful sand dollars you can find there, especially during low tide.

The IMRL really did a great job of putting cars in the ditch for the 5 years of its existence. We ran the hell out of trains and didn't do much maintenance because Washington Corp was just draining the IMRL. Well, the IC&E had a couple of mishaps along the way too. Here they did a number, putting a train on the ground over the top of the Iowa Northern diamond at Plymouth Jct. Now the IANR is back in; we had to detour the trains to Nora Springs and up while we waited to get the diamond back in. Here, the northbound bound for Austin turns the corner onto the Owatonna Sub.

Sakharibazar, Old Dhaka, 2011

Normal people with extraordinary lifestyles

Along with smile and the gloomy, here life has its own rhyme, has its own colour.

Time passed by, humanity changed along with its history...

But these people remained here tolerating the hardest truth of existences

..........its their story of extraordinary existences.

Sakharibazar, Old Dhaka. A very interesting place for all of us to visit. Culture and customs of old Dhaka are the tribute to the ancient history of Bangladesh. Peoples still living in 100 years old building from generations after generations. With the reflection of their religious beauty Old Dhaka attracts peoples from here and abroad.

Shakhari Bazaar is one of the oldest mohallas (a traditional neighbourhood) in Puran Dhaka (Old Dhaka), located near the intersection of Islampur Road and Nawabpur Road;the two main arteries of the old city and only a block away from the Buriganga River. Shakhari Bazaar stretches along a narrow lane, lined with thin slices of richly decorated brick buildings, built during the late Mughal or Colonial period. Despite rampant modifications, accretion, extension over time, even redevelopment, many still bear the testimony of a rich tradition.

Shakhari Bazaar is the manifestation of the irrational policies, lack of adequate development control rules and distorted legal framework, all of which have left their indelible mark on this precious little mohalla that shares a long history of more than 400 years with Dhaka city itself. The history of Shakhari Bazaar goes back to the pre-Mughal days if not earlier. The first mention of Puran Dhaka can be found in the writings of Mirza Nathan, the general turned historian, who traveled with Subahdar Islam Khan. He mentioned Puran Dhaka, as the area between Dholai Khal and Buriganga river covering Shakhari Bazaar, Tanti Bazaar, Bangla Bazaar, Lakhsmi Bazaar, Bangla Bazaar, Kamar Nagar, Sutar Nagar, Goala Nagar, etc. Each mohalla belonged to separate communities depending on their craft and trade. The influences of the Mughal vocabulary in the planning of the spaces are literally evident in the use of Persian names to identify different spaces..

Steller sealions and a bald eagle in the background at Race Rocks.

Race Rocks is an ecological reserve, many species of both Pinnipeds and birds live there together. It is also a very rich underwater ecosystem

The Queen Elizabeth II Great Court is a covered square at the centre of the British Museum. It was designed by the engineers Buro Happold and the architects Foster and Partners. The Great Court opened in December 2000 and is the largest covered square in Europe. The roof is a glass and steel construction, built by an Austrian steelwork company with 1,656 uniquely shaped panes of glass. At the centre of the Great Court is the Reading Room vacated by the British Library, its functions now moved to St Pancras. The Reading Room is open to any member of the public who wishes to read there.

The museum is dedicated to human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8 million works, is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.

Orderly living. Note to Flickr friends and followers: other examples of urban symmetry and near-symmetry to follow over the coming weeks! :-)

The imprisonment is not irksome anymore. it has become a part of me. My soul is enervated, tired of hitting itself to the rigid walls of this scarce cell. there is no way out, it is understood. No sun, no moon, no dark, no light, no dim, no bright... senses have been immured in a dilemma of nothingness, and hollowness. The wetness of eye, the thirst for water, the aridness of throat, the sluggishness of intellect, the race of breaths, the flow of blood, and the beat of heart, all signs of this journey seem to fade away... It's this sole existence and this ceased universe, where there is no variation either day or night. No sound, no motion: static. A wait: my existence is an eternal wait.

“Existence value refers to the unquantifiable level of delight - call it awe - we derive from simply knowing something is there even if we never experience it firsthand or it doesn’t directly enrich us economically - like the sight of the moon, the Aurora Borealis hovering in the night sky…” or bears and cougars and all the wild things.

Ferdinand Effinger, Sr., a German immigrant, founded the family brewing business in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin in 1885. One of about 300 small breweries in Wisconsin when founded in the late nineteenth century, the Effinger Brewing Company was one of only 19 small breweries in the state in 1966, when the firm ceased brewing due to declining sales.

The original brewery complex, erected in 1885, housed Effinger's family and a saloon in addition to beer-making facilities. Eleven years later, Effinger was one of the earliest brewers in the state to begin producing bottled beer.

In 1911 Effinger reorganized the firm as a corporation owned by family members. In 1913-1914 the brewery was remodeled and expanded, providing space for new cellars, keg washrooms, and a mechanical refrigeration system.

With the advent of Prohibition in 1920, the company began producing root beer and near-beer. In 1921 the firm successfully converted to ice cream making and sales. Ten years later, the firm sold its ice cream business to the Borden Company and began reconverting the plant for beer production, which began in 1933. The firm continued its expansion program through 1948 when a new brewery building was completed and new bottling equipment was installed.

Throughout its 81-year existence, the Effinger Brewing Company remained a family-owned and managed business. The sons and grandsons of the founder served as corporate officers and as managers of the brewery. After the death of the founder in 1945, Ferdinand Effinger, Jr., became the firm's president and brewmaster, positions he occupied until the firm went out of business. Frederick J. Effinger, a grandson of the founder, served as secretary-treasurer and director (plant manager) from 1945 to 1966.
