Since 1968, the Italian town of Frascati, 20 kilometres south of Rome, has been the European Centre for Satellite Earth Observation (ESRIN) of the European Space Agency (ESA). A new centre, the ESA "ϕ Experience", is opening up exciting insights into modern Earth observation, its research projects and findings on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary. This newly opened interactive world of experience was designed by Ars Electronica Solutions together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the ESA team.

Si tu supieras todo lo que ocurre cuando sonríes sabrías que aveces el tiempo se para y no hay nada que me de miedo. Sabrías que de repente todo es mágico y no hay nada que pueda hacerme daño, soy invencible cuando sonríes.
Si tu supieras todo lo que ocurre cuando sonríes sabrías que una hora se pasa en un minuto y un minuto pasa en un segundo. Sabrías que de repente mi coche es un palacio y calles llenas de gente parecen vacías, varías el tiempo y el espacio.
Esa sonrisa tuya y el pequeño milagro que es verla.
Paco es un crack de la cocina que durante algunos años nos deleitaba con sus platos cada vez que íbamos al Valle de Arán. En el pequeñito hotel-restaurante que regentaban tanto él como Vanesa no había lujos, ni falta que hacía, estabas como en casa en un entorno maravilloso y sobre todo sentías esa calidez de tenerlos cerca.
Alguna noche me pedía esta ensalada que estaba de muerte con sus tomates, lechuga, higos, membrillo, cebollita, el queso de cabra gratinado, etc. y unas vinagretas deliciosas.
En unas semanas volveré a ese rincón de los Pirineos y volveré a disfrutar y gozar como siempre pero en esta ocasión no podré disfrutar además de la compañía y excelencias culinarias de Paco y familia.

Concordia is a joint French-Italian inland Antarctic research station run by the French Polar Institute and Italian Antarctic Programme. Every year it hosts a human research protocol coordinated by ESA and Concordia partners, supplied by universities and research institutions from across Europe.
As well as offering around 9 months of complete isolation, Concordia is located at around 3200 metres altitude, so the crew has to adapt to chronic hypobaric hypoxia – they live with a third less oxygen than is available at sea level.
During the Antarctic winter, the crew endures 4 months of complete darkness: the sun disappears from the beginning of May, and is not seen again until late August.
