The contestants meet the President and Publisher from one of the largest book publishers in the world, who guides them through the impressive history of the marriage of art and literature. For their elimination challenge, the artists are charged with creating innovative cover art for a classic novel.

Yesterday I headed out near Pittsburgh to have some fun at my favorite Con, Steel City Con. As usual I had a great time. Here is one the photos from the 2 photo ops I did.
This first one is with Hayden Christensen who has played Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader for the past 23 years!

Avila shifts his attention to another recently carved mask of a rubio, a fair-skinned man, with a traditional gesso used as far back as the renaissance. The gesso is made by mixing blanco de espana, a fine powdered chalk made from calcium carbonate, and an adhesive made from the skins of rabbits to make the gesso.
