With the City Highways and the Sky Train (BTS), and countless pedestrian bridges a new City landscape developed in Bangkok, Thailands Capital City.

The number of inhabitants, according to the last census 2010 is 2.249.117 inhabitants. I only mention this to draw a picture how many people each day. are on the roads to go to work or University and so on.

I took this photo somewhere in Bangkok in 2002 with my analogue Canon EOS 100 and Kodak Gold ISO 200 film.

Well not quite the Savanna, it’s North Lincolnshire, but I thought it looked Savanna..ish.

I actually wanted to shoot with the sun nearer to the tree, or even behind it, but they were working on the field lifting the potatoes, and so I couldn’t get to my preferred position. However, given the strung out flight of the birds, it hasn’t worked out too badly.

A three shot panorama, stitched in Lightroom. Normally I would shoot panoramas with the camera in portrait orientation, but with the moving birds I needed to work fast and so stuck with landscape orientation.

Do you empathise with the fish or the bird, I wonder? Several people have expressed sympathy for the fish in previous photos 'Do they ever get away?' I have been asked. Almost never.

The Great Crested Grebes work hard for their catch - they dive below the surface for about 30 seconds, cover a surprising distance under the water, and only bring up a fish every 10 - 20 dives. This one managed to catch two fish in the space of about half an hour. Nature as it is lived in the wild.

This female is looking a little the worse for wear - her wings are distinctly frayed and she may be missing a leg. The adult forms of dragonflies only live for a few weeks, spending their entire time feeding, mating and laying eggs. Doesn't sound like such a bad life - no dishes to wash! The eggs will hatch into nymphs, and those that aren't eaten by fish or water fowl will go through progressive moults, each time getting larger. Eventually, after some years, they will crawl up a plant stem into the air, shed their final skin and emerge as the colourful, winged adults we see flying around.

The Emperor is the UK's largest dragonfly species - approx 10cm/4 inches in length and span.

A large raptor around 55-70 cms tall and weighing around 1.5 - 2.4 kg and found throughout the year in India. They are probably the smallest of the 9 species of vultures found in India. The birds are very distinctive and easily recognizable unlike some of the other vultures which are confusing to id.

This one is an adult with the full white plumage and yellowish face and beak. Immatures tend to be totally brown with a greyish face. The birds are often seen around carcass dumpyards or in the deserts where dead cattle / animals are lying rotten. In our Rajasthan trip last week, we sighted 100+ of them all around the state - they are quite common there. In fact, Rajasthan has 7 of the 9 vultures found in India. Like most vultures, this is quite shy of people, but many a time, we found very close to the nomad settlements perched on the poles or walking around on the ground.

Thanks in advance for your lovely feedback and views - much appreciated.

This is so close to home. In fact, I think I should spend more time here exploring its beauty instead of taking a long trip overseas now. California still has a lot to offer.
