I watched this Gyrfalcon preening and drinking before setting out for a hunt in the Fraser Valley, BC, Canada.
Thi first lupine that blooms in the Whiskey Dick Wildlife area near Vantage, Washington. Hundreds of this lupine were blooming. IMG_5377

Built in 1957 by SW H. Rancke, Hamburg (yard no. 174) as EROS for Schiffahrtsbetrieb Eckert. Sold in 1985 to Styx Shipping SA (Van Eck Norbal, managers) and renamed EOS under Honduran flag.
Sold in 1995 to Dominique Nav. SA and renamed VALEROSO. Sold in 1996 to U. Eigner and renamed STAR K. Sold in 1998 to Bright Sky Shipping and renamed EVINA under St. Vincent flag. Deleted from registers in 2012 as continued existence in doubt.

This Duck is chasing the Heron and almost bit his leg. Not sure what the Duck would have done if it caught the Heron.
This Spitfire dates from 1945 and made its first post-restoration flight in April 2023. It is seen here given its first public display.
The Mk IX Spitfire was the most numerous version produced, being a rather hasty upgrade of the current Mk V model when it was found that the Mk V was outperformed in most important respects by the latest Luftwaffe fighters, especially the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 . The Mk VII and Mk VIII Spitfires were already in development but were significant upgrades that would take longer to reach production, so the Mk IX (essentially a Mk V with a better engine and 4 blade propeller) was rushed into service, where it proved to be significantly superior to the Mk V.

An OK shot of this evening's moon in perigree. I think I'm about at the limit of what I can rationally expect from a 6-year-old Canon EOS Rebel and a 250mm lens.
A quick trip to the pond a creek near my house to capture some snowy landscapes. It was snowing so much that it made it nearly impossible to get a clear shot but I am pretty happy with these two.
...The Eastern Bluebirds did not stop on their way south to eat these berries this year.
