At first i didn't like how it came out for this project but then I like how it really focused on her eyes making it stand out

Not so successful, but at least this time I got the right type of film to do the lift! I'm so excited. I took 2 more pictures and tried it again with more success. I will post them as soon as they're dry.

this was done with what was left of the image after i did a transfer, love the sepia tone.

In his own words today’s photographer is a fourteen year old colour blind, far sighted and close sighted photographer…that uses film. It’s not only time for the latest EMULSIVE interview but also time for number 100. that’s right, the big one-oh-oh. Please allow me a little lead-in before you scroll down to see what he has to say for himself.

There’s been a lot of back and forth about the subject of this little milestone. For a while it was going to be someone probably best described as a household name but the timing of other goings-on meant that it wasn’t meant to be. Following that, I toyed with the idea of interviewing myself but as past interviewees will have already seen, it’s pretty boring fare. Then, out of the blue I came across Hudson Jacobs and was blown away. He’s Australian, 14 (one four, not four zero), colour blind and both near and far sighted.

How could I possibly say no?

An unusual form factor for a Double 8mm cine camera. It looks and operates like a bulky still camera, and many wonders about the optical path from lens to film - as the filmspools are placed horizontally behind the lens.

As is visible with the back open, the film is twisted to make the emulsion side facing the rear of the lens.

An emulsion transfer from a slide of a pile of yarn that was sitting in my old dorm room. To do an emulsion transfer, you use slide film, project in onto polaroid film, then soak the polaroid in hot water until the emulsion lifts off. Then you put the emulsion on whatever you want, and distort it however you want. All of these were taken and printed in Spring '06. Unfortunately these don't scan as well as the image transfers.

Emulsion Transfer. Fall 2007.

I decided to do a polaroid emulsion lift this week for my IP. My focus area is light and instead of doing a picture with my Nikon I shot with my polaroid. I think this project really focuses on light because if theres too much the polaroid would get overexposed.

Gently brush out any air and water bubbles.

Emulsion Lifts are created by placing a fully developed and dried Polaroid print into very hot water. That releases the emulsion that is then transferred paper.

I saw how beautifully the bubbles formed

they had to be captured. I'm there in the reflection.
