One of my favorite things to do on a cruise ship is to get up early and capture the sunrise from the ship. Here are pictures from our first morning on the ship (Thursday October 12th on our way to Key West) and our third morning (Saturday October 14th on our way to Cozumel). This was from our great five day cruise on Royal Caribbean's Empress of the Seas from Tampa (October 11th through 16th, 2017). Nothing quite as nice as catching the sunrise at sea. I really loved Royal Caribbean's good morning messages in all the languages.

Pictures taken as the cruise ship Empress of the Seas leaves on the afternoon of Wednesday October 11th, 2017 at the start of our wonderful cruise. Taken on the first day of our five day cruise to Key West, Havana and Cozumel from Tampa on the Royal Caribbean Empress of the Seas (October 11-16, 2017).
My old version of the Empress picture, (located here) was never what I wanted it to be. Taken with a Powershot S10 point-and-shoot camera, I had virtually no control over how the image was captured. It was an event that made me very serious about getting an SLR camera again, because the Empress has not passed by here again and has not been scheduled to in the future. The opportunity for this picture may have been a once-in-a-lifetime event.
I processed this with DxO Optics and added some settings to make it appear as it would if shot on colour film rather than the washed out digital version that came from the camera.
