Nature's perfection in all stages of life.
Last of our tulips now beginning to wither. From last fall's planting. Comments unnecessary, but thank you.

* Our state governor extended the stay-at-home order through May 31 to continue the social distancing strategy against the new coronavirus pandemic.
I salute him and his dedication to science and medicine.

Nature can set up extraordinary shows. The stage is immense, the amazing lights, the infinite extras and the unlimited budget for special effects.

In reality this photo dates back to the confinement period, walking alone at impossible hours, I never met anyone. So I could also experience this possibility of panoramic with the phone. Then I added texture and processing on photoshop.
The world has resumed its path in just a month here. I don't notice big changes in people, apart from the mask and lack of money. All good intentions, altruism, empathy, vanished in the blink of an eye. And our politicians have never stopped fighting after a first hint of feigned solidarity.
I miss those long timeless walks ....
I hope you are well, I wish everyone a good week.

"Empathy is our lifeline here. It’s what will get us to the other side. Let’s use it to redirect our attention toward what matters most, reconsider our priorities, and find ways to better remake the world in the image of our hopes."
—Michelle Obama, interview recently about Covid19
I cannot complain about quarantine or my inept attempts at folding paper and following youtube video instructions. We're still well, haven't lost everything, and even though things won’t return to the way they were, we'll find our way with the rest of you.
I hope you're all well, too. Perhaps trying new things if at home, too.
♥ You don't teach morals and ethics and empathy and kindness in the schools. You teach that at home, and children learn by example !

The blue jay is a bird symbolizing fidelity and agreement. These magnificent birds are closely associated with the values of loyalty, solidarity, and empathy.

Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.

There is a nobility in compassion, a beauty in empathy, a grace in forgiveness.

In my fear of condemnation
I became silent in my pain
Perhaps this was why it was easier
To talk to the dead in the rain
No barrier to climb
No reason for judgement
Nothing left to gain
But sharing sorrows
And resentments
Revisiting old haunts and lost loves
Understanding yet again
It was safer in the darkness
Hiding away instead
Sharing this empathy
Quietly
With the dead
This piece of work starts off another series of images and poems that I have been working on based around a visit to Alfriston Church in Sussex, UK, and will be the start of another Album on Flickr, and no doubt some of these works will find their way onto my website.
If you have been following my work you will know that I often strike a melancholy note in my writing, however with this series of works from Alfriston they are of a much darker tone. When I visited this place with my camera I found it had a very unsettling atmosphere and if I am truthful I have to admit that I did not enjoy it very much. But out of this has come an opportunity to explore a different pathway that involved some interesting self-analysis.
If you would like to see my website find me here:

Bauxite is a rare survivor, a tank engine only ever in industrial use, preserved over 60 years ago and left largely as it was when it ceased working at a chemical plant at Hebburn near the Tyne. It was built in 1875 by Black Hawthorn in Gateshead
