I saw this butterfly at the conservatory at Brookside Gardens and it did not cooperate by visiting some flowers. Instead it just wanted to sit on the leaves by the wall. Well, I shot it but the photo languished until I took a look at it in Lightroom years later. I am now just amazed by how beautiful this thing is. I can see the name Emerald is quite justified by those amazing green scales on this beauty which shine like tiny emeralds!

I must have fallen asleep, I completely forgot to share any vacation pictures! This one is even older. The photo, which I created this year, I found not so successful. So I decided to dig in the archive and post exactly the same motif from last year. Yes that's no problem we are up here more often the kids and the sea a probably inseparable story ;) Just as inseparable my love for music and photography. Therefore, it would probably be very unlikely if I had no song for this.

This Emerald Toucanet was a nice surprise for us on the third morning of our October Costa Rica trip. We arrived for our breakfast and this beauty was already enjoying his. He was so busy scarfing down berries that he hardly seemed to notice us clicking away. My biggest challenge ended up being getting far enough away to fit the whole bird and the cluster of berries in the frame!

Emerald Lake Lodge is the only property on secluded Emerald Lake, surrounded by the breathtaking peaks of the Canadian Rockies. The lodge is twenty minutes west of Lake Louise. Originally built in 1902 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, this historic property includes 85 comfortable units situated in 24 chalet-style cabins. The units feature cozy duvets, wood burning fireplaces and balconies or patios with magnificent views of the property.

I've dined here, but haven't stayed in one of the cabins....yet. High on my dream list.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated!

These two were very close to the dragon, so a lucky escape :)

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

This Double-crested Cormorant posed for me at Lake Balboa. I became "hypnotized" by its beautiful emerald eye. Lots of color but no "crests" yet.

A beautiful damsel to find (I don't think I've seen one of these for 3/4 years!) HWW! :)

Lake Maraboon is the principal source of agricultural water in Emerald

These two are canoeing on Emerald Lake while enjoying the crushing quiet and the stunning view. The water is an emerald color from the rock that is crushed by the glaciers in other area. It runs down the mountains filling the lakes below. Paddling on it is an experience, although emerald in color from a distance, it is clear up close.

'Emerald Lake is located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. The vivid turquoise colour of the water, caused by powdered limestone, is most spectacular in July as the snow melts from the surrounding mountains.'

Thanks for your visits and thoughtful comments - much appreciated!

Emerald Lake is just a short drive from Banff's Lake Louise and a must see if you are visiting the Canadian Rockies!

Emerald Lake is located in British Columbia's Yoho National Park and is known for its stunning turquoise waters. If you arrive early in the morning, take a scenic hike around the lake to see beautiful reflections of the surrounding mountains

A snap from last year's trip to one of my favorite national parks - Glacier National Park. Pictured here is the Grinnell Lake fed by one of the few remaining glaciers in the park. This spot can be reach after a moderate hike preceded by 2 separate boat rides to cross Swiftcurrent and Josephine lakes. These bpat rides help cover a significant portion on the otherwise long hike to get here.

Hold on to your hats.... lol.... this is Emerald Lake in Mammoth, California. It's a small hike out of Lake Mary. The colors are real...... this is an accurate picture of what this lake really looks like. It's one of my fav places to hike into........ for it's beauty and for the amazing view from almost 10,000 feet.

A great place to stay if you are ever get this way - off the Trans Canadian Highway between, Banff and Golden.

Emerald Lake is located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest of Yoho's 61 lakes and ponds.

In this particular late afternoon the wind was calm, the sun was shinning and the moment was unforgettable....

Emerald Pool in the Black Sand Basin of Yellowstone. These pools are so beautiful and may look inviting, but temperatures can be from 83 degrees C or 181 degrees F!

A wonderful trip to Yellowstone with family. It was not that crowded and most people were wearing masks. Summer is usually not a time to visit the park, but this year with so much closed and no tour busses it proved to be a lovely trip. :-)

Happy Monday!
