This was taken near Canyonville, Oregon. I had a devil of a time getting down the very steep banks without falling. I had my gear in a pack so my hands were free to cling to trees and rocks. I knew the light would be difficult because it was early afternoon, so I brought my Lee filters. Getting up was actually a little easier using all four limbs to scurry back up.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

This was taken in the highlands of Tanzania. it was quite a walk down to and up from the viewing point but worth the effort.

I went to the Antarctica just after the big economic crash of 2008 / 2009. It was my goal and an end to a long trip through South America, via bus, overland. Due to the lack of tourist, a group of us negotiated a very good price for this trip. When crossing the Drake Passage, you'll encounter some of the roughest seas on the planet. At one point in the trip a big wave hit the boat and the tables and chairs, which were chained to the wooden floor, broke free and flew across the room. All said, well worth the effort.

Brakes-on for a vertical descent! A small twig for a lot of effort as nest-building continues at a pace on the local heronry (Nottingham, UK) (2761NR)

Cyclamen flowers - Santa Gemita - 032722 - Enhanced-2

Well I managed to test negative after my five days isolation in Maura's apartment in Italy, so now we're mountain biking in Valle Maira. the combination of wild flowers and dramatic mountains is stunning. My legs are struggling with so many steep climbs and never ending ascents, but the rewards and downhills are well worth the effort. Simply Beautiful is by Al Green

Sergius of Radonezh founded near Moscow Trinity Monastery (now it is the Trinity-Sergius Lavra), did much for the Russian church. Holy dearly loved his motherland and a lot of effort put on to help his people survive all the disasters. On the life of the Reverend, we know thanks to the manuscripts of his associates and disciples. Work Epiphanius the Wise called "The Life of St. Sergius of Radonezh," written by him at the beginning of the XV century, is a valuable source of information about the life of the saint.

It is known that he lived to old age. Lying on his deathbed, he gave his disciples exhortation: "have the fear of God" and give people "purity of soul and love unhypocritical." Sergius of Radonezh, died September 25, 1392. Buried it in the Trinity Cathedral.

One of the most venerated saints in Russia since ancient times considered Sergius of Radonezh. His biography is replete with facts selfless service to God. He dedicated many temples. Only in Moscow they number 67. Even the overseas - Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg in South Africa and the monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the city of Rumija in Montenegro.

Majestic old oak, trying to survive oak wilt disease. Between Oak wilt, and Asian beetle, oak trees have been decimated along the NE. Great efforts by environmental groups and forestry services to re-plant.

Or pink dreams? Or huge cotton balls? Or just a look through the pink glasses? Actually it is simply the view in the sky – again from my garden – and that is not an effort, but very easy ;-)

///

Singapore Botanic Gardens are an oasis of natural beauty and tranquility in a highly urbanized city. The Gardens were established in 1859, and retain the same layout and historical buildings until today.

The Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are a global center for plant research, development, and conservation. This was a key institution involved with the introduction of rubber trees in South East Asia, which became a major cash crop for the region.

The greening of Singapore is a direct result of the Gardens' efforts, which devoted their expertise and resources to transform Singapore into the Garden City that it has now become.

The National Orchid Garden has the world's largest display of orchids, and is part of Singapore Botanical Gardens' orchid breeding program, with a repository of one thousand species and two thousand hybrids.

I don't get out for a walk at sunset often enough, especially at this time of year when sunset is quite late. I did make the effort last night and it was well worth it. There was a barn owl swooping around all evening but he wouldn't come close enough (and I don't really have the lens) to capture him. I did however, get some nice sunset shots through the grass (Eileen, I'm inspired by some you yours!).

Solar flares - Santa Gemita - 040121 LR TS2

The Ring of Kerry is a scenic road that takes you through beautiful landscapes and majestic coastlines, but also takes some effort and determination because it is so very narrow & curvy, and your steering wheel and the lanes are on the opposite side, but still definitely worth the effort... it's the road trip of a lifetime : )

With all the effort to create a safe and hygienic environment at work and for loved ones, life has definitely become busier than ever. Sorry for not responding to your kind words and support for quite a while, my Flickr friends! I'm well and wish you all stay healthy and merry as ever with your family and friends. May things always turn out the way you expect, same for peace love health and joy, my dear friends!

Magnolias - Santa Gemita - 080122 - Enhanced-5

Gannets building their nests in Great Saltee island, Ireland. I love these marvelous birds, flight champions, diving champions and so handsome.

I must say, I was shocked when I saw how nighttime changes an owl's face. While they become fearsome predators at night, they also become much more adorable to us humans, who have evolved to perceive large eyes as captivating and innocent.

In an effort to find area barred owls, I set out to a local park before sunrise and came upon this Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) in the dark. This darkness was so inky and thick, in fact, that I could not see if he was in his hole or not, so trained my tripoded camera on the hole, manually focused, and finally saw him in the preview window! Shocked for sure by those massive pupils staring down at me, a frog (which he swallowed greedily prior to this photo and while I watched) in his talons!

Interestingly, owl eyeballs are not balls at all, but so well evolved for night vision that they have elongated into eye cones. For this reason, they cannot move their eyes in their sockets, and have evolved wildly-flexible necks. With their highly acute retinas replete with rods (the light and movement sensing eye bits), there wasn't much room for cones, and so most owls see limited or no color!

Work and masterpiece of Sedefkar Mehmet Aga for the colors of the tile made efforts to decorate it is universally know as the Blue Mosque . The pourpose of its constructions were Two : who wauld build a place of workshop built in my name will have a palace in the afterlife .

The complex was composed of the Mosque ,Sultan's Palace ,from the school of Teology ,from the hospital ,from the spa ,from the hospice ,shop and rented rooms .For various some of this reasons are not caming to us.

Cleo's Flickr friends know that she always needs a good reason for physical activity and treats ARE a good reason. She found the treats bag in the kitchen, carried it into the garden (probably because she didn't want me to see what she was doing) and used her claws to open the bag. Cleo can indeed be very determined if she has a goal. :)

Grevy's is the largest of Africa's zebra species, and the most mule-like in appearance. Here a herd of Grevy's feeds in the evening before sunset. Because it lives mostly in desert areas, Grevy's zebra is endangered from lack of food after a long drought. Zebras in Samburu National Reserve have access to water from the Ewaso Ng'iro River, but food is scarce and daily haying efforts are helping to keep animals -- not just zebras but also oryxes -- fed. ©2022 John M.
