This was on a 1925 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. The name of the RR hood ornament is "Spirit of Ecstasy". I coned down on it and converted the photo to black and white to accentuate its classic beauty.

The Spirit of Ecstasy is the bonnet ornament sculpture on Rolls-Royce cars. It is in the form of a woman leaning forwards with her arms outstretched behind and above her. Billowing cloth runs from her arms to her back, resembling wings.
I recently visited the Southward Motor Museum near Wellington and very handily, I just happened to have the big Pentax on board so decided to see what different shots I could get from my previous visits here.

Took a hike today with my elementary school classmates to Morgan Territory. It was a hazy day due to the wildfire in Dixie. We only saw 4 hikers along the way and we had this place totally to ourselves.
An Icon is Born
In 1909, Eleanor Thornton’s presence was crystallised in the form of an ornamental figurine, by the artist Charles Sykes. A figurine that, to this day, is an exclusive addition to every Rolls-Royce motor car, to encapsulate the pursuit of personal liberty, and freedom from conformity. Challenging the social conventions of the time, her appearance became instantly iconic. Known from then on as the Spirit of Ecstasy, she leans forth towards the wind, arms outstretched, her dress billowing as if in flight. A symbol of dreams – of energy, grace and beauty – the Spirit of Ecstasy embodies the heights pursued by a unique and progressive group of friends. And it remains a tribute to their vision and everything their timeless legacy stands for.

Trishul is a group of three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun, Uttarakhand, with the highest (Trishul I) reaching 7120m. The three peaks resemble a trident - in Hindi/Sanskrit, Trishula, trident, is the weapon of Shiva. The Trishul group forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks enclosing the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, about 15 kilometres west-southwest of Nanda Devi itself. The main peak, Trishul I, was the first peak over 7,000 m (22,970 ft) to have ever been climbed, in 1907.

Synonyme de beauté, de luxe, de style et de perfection, le Spirit of Ecstasy est la petite statuette qui orne l'avant de toutes les Rolls-Royce. Aussi connue sous l'appellation de "Flying Lady" l'émblématique mascotte a été créée en 1911 par le sculpteur britannique Charles Sykes. C'est une variante de sa création pour Lord Montagu, adepte fortuné de la marque, qui désirait personnaliser sa voiture : "The whisper" représentait une jeune femme avec ses vêtements au vent et un doigt sur les lèvres.
La statuette, proposée en option jusqu'au début des années 1920 avant de devenir un élément standard, était plaquée d'argent jusqu'en 1914. Elle sera ensuite faite d'acier inoxydable, mais sur commande, elle peut être en argent ou même en or.
De nombreuses variantes de la statuette ont existé, dont même une Spirit of Ecstasy agenouillée. Les authentiques mascottes anciennes sont rares et recherchées par les collectionneurs. D'innombrables copies sont sur le marché : l'iconique statuette faisant un très bel objet de décoration.

OK car lovers it's your day today, I have the day off so it's all about you all day.
This Rolls Royce is in the 20 Ghost Club, it was at a bad angle I had to contort myself to get it all in the frame like I wanted. A little film noir to add to the vintage feel.
Can you imagine driving this beauty down the highway, top down and wind in your hair. (if you have hair lol)
