This is right outside of my front door and it's the first thing I see every morning when I leave my apartment. The air conditioner drains out and it's always damp. A couple of months ago, the little plant sprouted up from the crevasse between the walkway and the wall.

I think I should name him. Anyone have ideas?

A tree is not just a single living entity, but supports a miniature ecosystem. On this one tree alone, numerous other plants and animals have made their homes. You can see ferns and creepers, which in turn support birds and insects.

That's why trees are so precious: they form the basis for so many other creature's habitats. Cutting down a tree means destroying hundreds of other living things.

This version was shot with a Sony DSC-707, nightshot mode, with IR filter. The nightshot mode on the Sony tends to give a greenish cast to the image.

This project is building the climate resilience of poor communities in the cities of Thimphu (Bhutan), Kep, Phongsaly and Oudomxay (Lao PDR), and Mandalay (Myanmar) using Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) - the strategy of protecting or restoring ecosystems to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.

In Cambodia, the project is restoring wetlands and reservoir as well as mangroves to reduce the risk of flooding, drought, intrusion of saline water into agricultural land, and restore water for city consumption.
