In full-on "Daddy Chariot" trim. There are some pictures earlier in my stream of my first Xtracycle experiment back in 2013 - the success of which led to this.
This is a 2014 Edgerunner 27D, with a Falco E-Motors HX500 setup. I use this more than any of my other bikes - on this occasion I was on the way to work after dropping the kids at daycare. For kid-carrying duty, the bike is set up with the hooptie rails and the cushion - though up until recently I was also using a Yepp Maxi seat for my youngest.
Ellen Fletcher bought a RideKick electric trailer for her Breezer Citizen bike. She's says it's perfect for her.
Behold the Earth Bike, a unique parade float created by artist and activist Fabrice Florin, to engage more people to go green and fight climate change. The Earth Bike features a 6-foot inflatable globe pulled by an electric bike, with signs inviting people to use clean energy, ride clean transportation, eat sustainably and take more climate actions featured on GreenChange.net.
Fabrice and the Green Change team presented this fun climate art project to thousands of people at the Fourth of July Parade in Corte Madera and Larkspur, Marin County. Throughout the parade, we sang environmental songs with our friends the Freedom Singers. We encouraged participants to take care of Mother Earth and go green in their own lives. Many people responded enthusiastically to our call to action and some walked over to pet the Earth and/or have their photos taken in front of it.
Green Change led a cohort of environmental groups at the parade, including these partners:
• Cool the Earth drove different models of electric cars
• The New Wheel rode with us and loaned some of their ebikes
• Marin County Bicycle Coalition showed their cool Alto Tunnel float
• Climate Now marched with a group of young activists
We’re grateful to all our friends, neighbors, partners and community members for joining forces with us to help more people go green. Thanks to our Green Change event crew, led by Fabrice Florin, Tom Flynn, Geo Monley and Marilyn Price, with Chris Brown, Diana Connolly, Kelly Horner and Paul Marmaro. Thanks as well to the Freedom Singers: Greg Brockbank, Deirdre Fennessy, Luisiana Gale, Angela Giacomini, Laura Giacomini, Joe Hiney, Rena Kay, Lillie Kocher, Gailya Morrison. And kudos to our partners in this environmental parade: Carleen Cullen, Robin Moller and Annika Osborn at Cool the Earth; Karen Wiener at New Wheel; Dwayne Price at the Marin Bicycle Coalition; and Sarah Goody at Climate Now.
This Earth Bike float was a great way to connect with people who were not yet engaged in climate action: through this fun outreach, we think we made an impression, raising people’s awareness about how we can help fight climate change, and getting a few of them to commit to taking action. Just as importantly, we started relationships with some great partners and team members. We look forward to collaborating on more community engagement projects with Green Change.

With the new ebike, smart is presenting its second idea for locally emission-free electric mobility on two wheels. The trend-setting electric bicycle study, which will be premiered at the Paris Motor Show 2010 together with the highly regarded smart escooter is suited for both effortless city biking and sporty use. Unlike the scooter, the ebike´s drive is not controlled via the throttle grip. Instead, it delivers extra power when the rider pedals. The muscle power-electric hybrid drive offers four power levels. The high-tech bike also sets standards in terms of appearance and concept, starting with the futuristic look and the discretely designed lightweight wheels to the technical features in detail. Characteristics that the ebike and the escooter have in common are typical smart design features, simple handling and the integration of smartphones: the smart drive kit app that has been further developed also performs numerous functions for the ebike, for example those of a speedometer and a navigation system.
Grandma & Grandpa ready crazy-big-tired heavy e-bikes for the bike path. If not for the technology of battery and electric motor, this couple might not be "cycling." The bicycle is the most efficient human-powered machine ever built. I wonder what Orville and Wilbur Wright would have thought of electric bikes?
The BionX electric motor is a well-known device for me as it powers my HP Velotechnik trike Scorpion fs as well. The range will be around 100km (I have done 90km with the heavier Scorpion fs).
Expect a price of EUR 2.900,-- for the ebike. Not too much given the fact that the BionX electric set is not the cheapest in the market.
A 24Volt powered 200 watt Currie Electric Motor, drives the eBike easily up hills and against strong headwinds.
