Beautiful Earthy Webcap in Salcey Forest, The smell of this species is very distinctive and a good indicator. This year has seen a number of smaller Webcaps but none of the large, impressive Webcaps which usually appear. I can only put this down to the record breaking hot summer.
It took a great deal of time in the supermarket to find three pak choi without holes or dead leaves!

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Earthy Greens. There is a place in the Greenhaven-Pocket area of Sacramento called The Trap. The building has been here since 1861. I noticed they recently refurbished their sign and was hoping to see it lit up. Either it was not working or they didn't turn it on, though. The place was packed and their cafe lights were on and that was good! HMMM!
The end of Endless Summer :-( Once the winter storms hit, the flower heads and the leaves will be battered. Sad, but it should return again happily next spring!

It was a peaceful afternoon in the Weathered Cottage, where the soft golden light filtered in, settling upon a tranquil lounge. Rattan baskets mingled with worn leather, and the earthy tones of the room invited a deep sense of calm, enhanced by the gentle fragrance of incense swirling through the air. In this serene setting, a playful puppy, with a sense of duty, proudly held up a tiny lantern, casting a warm, flickering glow. Nearby, a pair of elegant brass cranes stood watch, their graceful forms adding a quiet touch of magic to this cozy, sun-dappled retreat.

The work presents a tranquil, earthy, and somewhat sacred atmosphere.
The painting is dominated by earth tones: the gray-brown of the mountains, the deep red and khaki of the figures' clothing, and the mottled colors of the clothes hanging out to dry create a calm and natural visual experience.
The overall soft lighting, lacking stark contrast, further enhances the tranquil atmosphere. The silhouettes of the two figures draw the eye into the distance, echoing the rolling mountains in the distance, creating a sense of depth and space.
The slanted lines of the clothes-drying railings add a sense of dynamism to the painting and connect with the direction of the figures' journey. The monks walking along the rugged mountain path in the painting suggest a journey of spiritual practice or pilgrimage.

A quiet moment on the woodland floor, where autumn textures, fallen leaves, moss and delicate fungi come together. These two images celebrate the often-overlooked details of the forest — from earthy puffballs resting among leaf litter to fragile mushrooms rising gently from vibrant green moss. Small scenes, easily missed, yet full of character, colour and calm.
