When the tide was out we would see the Eagles foraging in the tidal zone. This male Eagle is returning to the high trees at the mouth of the river.

A kelp bed/forest covers the water, the kelp grow in dense groupings much like a forest on land. These underwater towers of kelp provide food and shelter for thousands of fish, invertebrates, and marine mammal species. Kelp forests harbour a greater variety and higher diversity of plants and animals than almost any other ocean community.

While I was out looking for trumpeter swans and snow geese, the eagles out today were fantastic!

I met a man today in Paignton who had his European Eagle Owl with him. He was sitting in a street café. The owl is called Wizzard and is 18 years old. Paignton, Devon

I was about to take a picture of this guy as he perched atop a tree, but he had other ideas. Taken at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, in the Bitterroot Valley, in western Montana.

I was out looking for Eagles early last Sunday morning sort of wondering why I was there, the light was terrible, it was cold and snowing, then I walked into this scene.

From the archives since I haven't been out looking for eagles yet this season

One adult eagle chases the other.

The majestic Wedge-tailed Eagle in SA. This handsome fallah/sheila was perched on this mound just beside the road. I got out the car and carefully approached this predator hoping it wouldn't have a go at me. I got to within about 10 m. It then had enough of me and took off. It flew a couple of passes, all the while keeping a close eye on me, and then settled on another mound not too far away. Amazing looking birds.

I actually got too close for my big 200-600 mm lens which resulted in a couple of clipped wings. I used my OI (organic intelligence) and Affinity Photo and grew the wingtips back on 😉.

I took the day to travel across the state to visit Homosassa Springs State Park and boy was it WORTH the drive! Many beautiful birds and wildlife can be found there.

There were 2 bald eagles there and both of them has a missing wing so they cannot fly. I felt so bad for them yet glad that they have so many people to care for them and will always be safe.

Thank You for your views, comments and faves…:)

Yep, a blue sky and a gorgeous eagle in the same frame. A rare catch in my are of the Pacific North West this winter.

A visit at the Ecomuseum (Montreal, Canada).

I've finally decided to go out a little bit in the Canadian cold Winter.

When I saw the Bald Eagle in Homer Spit from afar, I thought he was going to fly away. But he remained sitting and I could approach to 5 m. The beautiful proud bird turned his head to the left, sometimes to the right and listened to the click of the camera. He posed for about a quarter of an hour, then flew away. It was a fascinating moment.

A cold night froze the lake nearly over and sure enough, the eagles were gathering. At one point I counted 12 on the ice.

I don't know if this Eagle had taken the fish from the Osprey or the Osprey was trying to take it from the Eagle. But it was a very agressive Osprey and the Eagle was sure keeping and eye on it.

A fun nature thing to see. Better viewed large.

The Eagle Nebula (catalogued as Messier 16 or M16, and as NGC 6611, and also known as the Star Queen Nebula) is a young open cluster of stars in the constellation Serpens, discovered by Jean-Philippe de Cheseaux in 1745–46. Both the "Eagle" and the "Star Queen" refer to visual impressions of the dark silhouette near the center of the nebula, an area made famous as the "Pillars of Creation" imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope. The nebula contains several active star-forming gas and dust regions, including the aforementioned Pillars of Creation. The Eagle Nebula lies in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way.

My next drawing subject possibly? A golden eagle taken at the Cornish Birds of Prey centre in Cornwall.

We have just spent a week on Mull and once again had to take a couple of trips out with Martin and his boat to see the sea eagles.

No trip to Mull is complete without such a visit as the sight of these magnificent birds lingers ion the memory and one is lost in wonderment.

Such was our experience when I managed to capture these shots while standing in a boat that was pitching and rolling.

Not an easy task for a lady in her mid-seventies but I had a go that is al I can say.

They are not always successful when they dive for their food sometimes missing the target or dropping it as you will see from the following images.

Happy to share these memories with those who cannot get to see them in the feather.
