This was backlight hell and that’s why I had to shoot at an angle that put all kinds of obstacles in the way.

Juvenile eagle wisely stops in the air to eat its small fish pulled from the river before any of the other thieves could get there.

A couple of posts back I asked for advice on how to take "take-off" shots. Many of you gave me wonderful advice! I debated on how to say thank you. I decided the best way is to show you that I listened! I read and re-read the advice. Today my husband and I went out and put it to practice. This is the best I have ever done! I know I still need more practice but thanks to all of you I will get it. I also want thank all those who maybe didn't know about birds in flight but your support and encouragement make me want to do better.

Thanks for the visits, faves and comments its greatly appreciated.

The Eagles of Annette Island

This image was taken from a crab boat just off the coast of Annette Island near Ketchikan, Alaska. We were on the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour at the time. Part of their excursion is to visit Annette Island and throw carp to the eagles. It creates an amazing photo-op with dozens of eagles competing for the prize.

FYI, these are the folks from the Deadliest Catch TV show. This was a marvelous excursion and well worth the money.

This image was taken on a cold, cloudy day. Hence, the plain background.

Bald eagle making a very close in pass. Filling the frame nicely.

Somehow the chaser ended up in front when the young bald eagle was able to put on the brakes as the adult closed in from below.

Up high on a huge fir tree.

The eagle put on the breaks to head down to the lake. He looks like a Bullfighter to me. It was a treat to see him in action.

Thank you for stopping by.
