This picture shows a tree being strangled by English Ivy. This particular tree was close to the neighbor hood at the top of the trail we took. English Ivy is an invasive non native species that is commonly planted as decoration for gardens. It takes hold of trees such as this. It is dangerous in forests because these trees become unstable as the Ivy strangles the life from them, increasing the risk of them falling.
