A few days ago we had the extremely rare opportunity to see the Northern Lights in The Netherlands with super strong solar activity. This photo was captured in the North along the coast of Den Oever. I had been wanting to capture the Aurora in my homeland since forever, and I am glad I finally did it!

The Oostzijdse Molen is a Dutch windmill (polder mill) from 1874 on the Gein river. The Oostzijdse mill became famous because the Dutch artist Piet Mondriaan painted it more than twenty times in the period 1902-1908.
From June 15, 2024 there will be the 'Aan het Gein' exhibition in the Mondriaanhuis in Amersfoort. This exhibition shows the beauty of the landscape around this small river through the eyes of Piet Mondriaan, Annemieke Harkema, Anna Khodorovich and Dannis van der Heiden. Named after the engineer that designed it, Clifford M. Holland, the Holland tunnel when it opened in 1927 was the first Hudson River vehicular crossing and was at the time of its opening the longest underwater tunnel for vehicular traffic in the world. The Holland Tunnels length is 8,558 feet from portal to portal on the North tube, and 8,371 feet on the South tube at a height of 12 feet, 6 inches tall. Initially the state commission considered a bridge or a tunnel at the turn of the century, but the cost of acquiring the land to build a bridge with a minimum height of 200 feet to allow for marine traffic made it cost prohibitive. Biggest challenge outside of digging a tunnel under the Hudson River was ventilation. Four ventilation buildings 2 on each side of river, exchange the tunnel air every 90 seconds, though being in the tunnel in traffic over the years, the smell of diesel fuel is something I always remember in my dad’s un-airconditioned vehicle. Large massifs of stones with iron loops are quietly waiting for what is to come in the harbour of Hoek van Holland......
Extensive field with clay soil in the outskirts of the South Holland village of Goudswaard, municipality of Hoeksche Waard. Potatoes were planted in the field and the soil was then earthed up. Due to the persistent drought, growth is still lagging somewhat. Behind the dike in the background is the Haringvliet and at the small hut on the right begins the Korendijkse Slikken nature reserve, which is part of the Haringvliet Natura 2000 area.
Uitgestrekte akker met kleigrond in het buitengebied van het Zuid-Hollandse dorp Goudswaard, gemeente Hoeksche Waard. Op de akker zijn aardappels gepoot en de grond is daarna aangeaard. Door de aanhoudende droogte blijft de groei nog wat achter. Achter de dijk op de achtergrond ligt het Haringvliet en bij het kleine hutje rechts begint het natuurgebied Korendijkse Slikken dat een onderdeel vormt van het Natura 2000-gebied Haringvliet.
