Traditional steamed pork dumplings.
A visit to Shanghai is not complete if you have not tasted their Xiao Loong Pao 小笼包. This signature Shanghainese dish can be found from fancy restaurants to local street side stalls - but the locals will suggest having it at its origin, NanXiang ManTou Dian 南翔馒头店. Imho, this is not bad but I have tasted better ones, for instance the Xiao Loong Pao at -Dragon-i!
I made some dumplings. Filling: Pork, ginger, green onions, garlic, soy sauce... and kimchi!
They were yummy.
This significantly cropped photo shows only three out of at least 400 dunlin that were at Forsythe NWR when I visited. I couldn't find any western sandpipers among them, but I'm sure that they were somewhere on the refuge property.
The filling contains shrimp, cooked pork fat, bamboo shoots, scallions, cornstarch, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, and other seasonings.
Inspired by all the ones I have seen Balu51 making, I thought I would try one.
