I received my box of Duke Cannon “Big Ass” bars of soap today. Yes, it really does say “Big Ass” on each of the individual boxes. I was pleased to get them as I like to take a shower on Wednesday nights whether I need one or not.

The individual bars are three times the size of a regular bar of hand soap. These bars of soap won’t be slipping out of your hand in a prison or gym shower. No how, no way. Duke Cannon is often described as a “Man’s Man.” He doesn’t wear scarves and he’s never ordered a veggie burger. Duke grew up in a time where the word “salad” was never put next to the word “bar.” Duke Cannon don’t use no shower jell because that’s for teenage boy band members who want to smell like teen girls and not men.

According to the company’s history, this “big ass” soap was inspired by the soap bars issued to G.I.s during the Korean War. Though it does smell better. It’s made in Minnesota where the “women are strong and the men are handsome.” A portion of the proceeds go to veterans organizations.

Their web site had a really good price on a “big ass” box of four “big ass” bars of soap. This box contained soap all inspired by WWII. The manly scents are:

- Victory is in Your Hands

- Accomplishment is Our Secret Weapon

- Naval Supremacy

- Productivity Wins the Day

Photo of the Duke of Lancaster before the graffiti art took place.

On August 10th, 1979, a former Sealink passenger ferry called “The Duke of Lancaster" was beached at Llanerch-y-Mor in North Wales with the intention of turning it into a floating leisure and retail complex called The Fun Ship but the project never achieved it’s full potential due to many long running legal disputes with the local council.

Make no bones about it, until it was converted into a car ferry she was one of the finest vessels afloat at the time. The first class quarters in the late fifties and early sixties were the best around, silver service restaurants, state rooms and luxurious cabins. In fact, the facilities and the accommodation on board Lancaster were so good she was frequently taken out of her usual ferry service and used as a cruise liner with frequent annual cruises around Scotland, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.

Duke Nukem 1 and 2 were great platform shooters.

In the Dee estuary, Wales. 376 feet LOA, built as a passenger steamer for British Railways in 1956. She has come upon hard times, having been beached as a tourist attraction for a while, and now apparently just a giant grafitti magnet. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSS_Duke_of_Lancaster_(1956)

I was going to have Duke hold his khopesh in his closest hand, but I could never get it right. And I forgot why Duke is standing on a skull thing. Maybe I wanted to show a bent knee with Lego minifigs?

I dunno.

This should explain why Duke's outlined in purple.

Nice orange instruments. In daylight riding it is grey, the orange only becomes apparent in shade or at night.

The Market Hall is an impressive red sandstone building in the centre of Ross, dating to 1660-74. The ground floor - still used for markets - is open, while the rooms above contain the Ross Visitor Centre, which has a small museum, displays explaining the history of the town, and visitor information. The Visitor Centre is accessed by the 17th century wooden staircase or, for less mobile visitors, by the modern lift tucked discreetly alongside.

The Market Hall is said to have been built by Frances, the wife of William, second Duke of Somerset. At the east end of the building is a medallion of Charles II (1660-1685). In the 17th century, the upper floor was used for Manor Courts, which were held three times a year. Other uses of the Market Hall have included a boys school, a ballroom, the town library, a Magistrates' Court, and the Council Chamber.

The hall is in the middle of the medieval market area of the town. Early evidence suggests that the market area originally stretched westwards along High Street as far as St Mary's Street and northwards along Broad Street as far as New Street. By the 14th century the temporary market stalls had become permanent shops.

Went for a wander around Hastings Old Town this afternoon and early evening.

This small Book of Hours is especially interesting for its profusion of humorous drolleries. Humans, animals, and hybrids are featured in the margins of each page of the book. The artists rendered in small scenes a variety of actions, like cooking, playing game, climbing, fishing, making music or moving the bodies in a dance. These drolleries amuse the faithful during his prayers, while showing scenes that work as metaphors of the soul fighting the vices. The original female owner seems to have been established in the diocese of Cambrai, judging from the use of the Office of the Dead. Several provenance episodes are evidenced by the book in the signatures on the leaves at the beginning and end of the manuscript. A priest in the sixteenth century wrote a message in code on fol. 1v asking to return to him the book if lost. Members of the ducal house of Savoy owned this book of prayer in the seventeenth century, as evidenced by the gilt armorial shield of Charles Emmanuel II (1634-75), duke of Savoy, stamped on the covers.

Duke

I've never wanted brickarms/brickforge so badly as now. I'm pretty sure there's a better torso out there for Duke.

I themed my site www.mesaran.in with a cool KTM DUKE background to celebrate the launch of KTM DUKE 200 in India

My dear old friend took his last breath under the sea in Báhia Asucsión, BCS Mexico about two weeks ago. Duke was a Former Navy Demolition Diver and all around good guy. He dedicated the majority of his life to the sea and ended up in her embrace. Peace!
