It was an insane week. But when you're an only child and a parent passes away, who else is going to step up? The whiteboard kept me on task. And if she was looking down, she must have been pleased; everything went off exactly the way she'd wanted it.
I'm curious if this dry cleaner hung this near the window purposefully, or if it was just a coincidence.

I've finally returned to a series I started three years ago called "Closing Time on King & Queen" - an after-hours peek at the dying breed that is the mom & pop store on these newly trendy stretches. See previous entries: Restaurant, Barber Shop, Tailor.
This one is from the dry cleaners at Queen and Broadview. This place has been in operation for generations, and every day there's a woman slaving away at this ancient press steaming away in the window. I once wrote a blog post about the cash register in this place, which they bought second-hand in the 1960s and guess is twice that old. Almost nothing has changed here since then, but I love the touch of colour with the flowers in the window.

Over 100,000 secondhand carpet tiles and over 111 colours to choose from. This carpet tile in particular is really popular in gyms I have noticed.
These are commercial carpet tiles sourced from high rise office blocks. Do it yourself and save time and money. Prices start from $1.10 each. This carpet tile is fantastic for sunrooms, kids play rooms, garage to room conversion, market, market stalls, sheds, caravans, annexes, dog kennels and canary cages. A $2.20 tile has a bit more wear than a $4.40 tile. Now a $4.40 tile is basically brand new never walked on. When you select the carpet tiles you want, you are more than welcome to mix and match a range of different colours and patterns. All our carpet tiles and cheap carpet squares are from high-rise office blocks and are industrial quality. They are clean, stain free and in excellent condition.

The best thing about carpet tiles is that you can replace stained carpet tiles with new ones (rather than replacing your whole carpet). You can pick them up, hit them with a hose, drip dry and then relay them (I even know one customer who put his carpet tiles in the dishwasher to give them a clean...though I wouldn't recommend this necessarily). McMATS tip: Get carpet tiles cleaned by a drycleaner for the best results. You get the maximum return on your investment with carpet tiles. Yea yea.
Environmentally speaking it takes 19kgs of Co2 gas per square metre to manufacture a carpet tile. So not only are you saving money and time you are also doing your bit for the enviroment, so well done.
In 17 years of carpet recycling McMats estimates that it has helped save the environment 43,554,000 million tons of Co2 gas for carpet and 7,125,000 million ton of Co2 gas for carpet tiles.

Abandoned laundromat and dry cleaner. Closed about 2 years now... unclaimed dry cleaning hanging still... building is on the market which probably means that someone will tear it down in favor of some modern ugliness...
Notice the great old victorian tin ceiling.

Strip mall housing a Subway sandwich shop, drycleaners, and other retail stores, on Stringtown Road, in Clarksburg, Maryland. We got a little lost while driving around the area and fortunately came across the Subway before we became totally famished. The immediate environs of Black Hill Regional Park are mostly residential.
