Habana, Cuba. Driver charming his next fare...good luck!

Steam loco drivers are a bit hard to come by these days. Our subject is Cookie, one of the full time employees at the Mount Washington cog railway in New Hampshire. What a bizarre line, the steepest in the world and a captivating mix of anachronisms and modern technology.

A sight not seen for over 20 years, R761 hauls an empty V/line H-set through Sunshine on a driver training run heading for Ballarat.

And if you're Irish today (and who isn't on St Patrick's Day?), it would be a wise move to bring along a Designated Driver. if you are going to indulge.

I saw Baby Driver today.

It's good. One of those movies that's hard to describe, because it's one of those films that remind us that movies can be art. The car chases were pretty damn good too.

Anyway, a perfect 5 out of 7.

We were in a truck , riding in city , feeling like Texas.

This was the pile driver that was putting wooden piles down for my neighbours new house (rebuild). After shaking everyone to bits in nearby houses they then had to put concrete piles in. When the Geo-techinical report was done on my house they found that there is a layer of sand 15m down that has very little frictional resistance, so is probably very waterlogged and could be an aquafier. So if there is another big earthquake these piles may be next to useless.

Our engineer said that we only need a wide gravel bed to sit the foundations on as the land is better than it should be.

I recently watched Baby Driver and it’s such a great movie, I recommend you watch it. I’ve seen it 5 times now and it still hasn’t gone stale. I also love Edgar Wright and hope to make more figs from his movies.

The cool taxi driver from the previous image also allowed me to take a portrait shot while waiting on a traffic light. The red traffic light contributed nicely to the overall atmosphere.

Had a chat with the owner of this fine yellow 36 Plymouth street rod, spotted out and about in the pouring rain. I thought it looked so cool on this dismal day. It is the only car that he and his wife own, and they drive it every day. The way it should be.
