All right, I know what you're all thinking...WTF is a Squonzeling? And why, dear sirs and madams, is it so very profound? — The answer? I have no idea. But I know who does: Animator, Illustrator and all around Pencil-Swordsmith-Wizard James Braithwaite.
James was invited to theme and make the poster for our 28th Draw By Night party, entitled The Profound Squonzeling. The man, or at least the virtual face of the man, joined us via Skype from his studio in Montreal as we drew fictional medical diagrams and fantastical anatomy charts, which could tie in loosely with James' short animated film, Persistent Infection (in production).
In no way were these drawings meant to be anatomically accurate. In fact, we used our imagination engines to dream up new insides to our bodies. Sounds fun, right??
Like always, this was a free all-ages event open to the public! Like always, people came armed with their favorite drawing utensil or just their bad self and made use of our stuff. We provided materials and sandwiches for their inspiration. They provided the Profound Squonzeling.
Steven Tyler would be impressed as Norfolk Southern's D32 train takes a ride westbound on the ex-Nickel Plate at Arrowsmith, Illinois.. Upon arrival at Good Yard in Bloomington, the crew will take this train's counterpart back to Decatur. October 20th, 2012.

PNCA presents The Big Draw. October 25, 2014. The Big Draw includes activities for ages 4-99 including drawing with pencils and pastels, with vegetable colors and threads and drawing as observation and as performance. As the event unfolds, our individual and collaborative drawings will intersect our Campus Commons in myriad lines and shapes. Come and reframe the expectations of drawing with your mark-making at The Big Draw.
The 2014 Big Draw will run from October 1st to November 2nd across the UK and in twenty other countries, with 280,000 people expected to join in over 1000+ events. The Big Draw offers thousands of enjoyable drawing activities, which connect people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators - and each other. These events are for those who love to draw, as well as for those who think they can’t!
At PNCA, in addition to traditional drawing materials, join us for non-traditional mark-making including 3D drawing, Giant Crayons drawing, needle & thread images, drawings that move, and our event’s centerpiece, the Big World Drawing. There will also be a Zine Factory hosted by Sarah Wolf Newlands’ Freshman Inquiry classes, “Work of Art,” from Portland State University.

I haven't been drawing every day because I've been super busy making Christmas presents. Here's today's attempt to get back into it. I'll finish the other side of her face when I get more tracing paper, of which I just discovered I am out.
