Fantastic Sunset

High water level again in the IJssel.

This was one of my favorite shots from my recent trip to the Udvar-Hazy Center, a branch of the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia. The frame centers on the engines of the Space Shuttle Discovery. These engines were so successful in the space shuttle program, NASA will be using the same designs for their Space Launch System (SLS), the successor to the now retired space shuttle.

Using an ultra-wide lens, I was able to capture not only the symmetry of the shuttle's design but the symmetry of the hangar that this giant now resides in. The lighting beneath the shuttle adds a dramatic flair making this an awesome subject to shoot!

When last we visited Loch Ard Gorge .. it was a heatwave with 40°C blue skies and a howling offshore wind. Nothing like the windswept and interesting coast with big oceans and dramatic skies I'd been hoping for.

Well it was only 15°c lightly raining and had some slightly interesting skies this time around.

Still I got some images in 'just because' :-)

Twelve frames raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 6, stitched in Affinity Photo 2, bit of a tweak in Topaz Photo AI, colour graded in Color Efex Pro 5 and finished off back in PhotoLab.

The Golden Ears mountains were quite dramatic yesterday afternoon with storm clouds overhead

the buildings close in from both sides like the covers of a book. above them, the sky opens the only page worth reading. a man stands in the gap, looking down at something smaller than all of this — a screen, a message, a life that fits in his hand while the clouds decide what to do with the rest of the afternoon.

As I drove out of our neighborhood yesterday I ran into this. It only took about 1 second to decide to stop and capture this beast.

Taken from my kayak very early in the morning. The sunrise was short lived as the clouds smothered its flame and soon brought rain.

Some dramatic water drops on poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) leaves.
