01/05 Dramatic sunset over the roofs of Terezvaros

It's amazing what a red filter will do with white clouds and a blue sky. Photographed at a park close to where I live in Esquimalt BC Canada.

The word autumn comes from the French autompne, from the Latin autumnus, whose deeper roots are obscure. It’s first recorded in English as early as the late 1300s—notably, both Chaucer and Shakespeare used it in their works.

Today, speakers of American English commonly use both fall and autumn to refer to the season, though fall became more common in the US by the late 1800s. Speakers of British English largely use autumn or the autumn season.

A dramatic sunset glows over a coastal landscape, casting vibrant colors across the sky and water.

This image shows a Pacific Northwest sunset over the shoreline flanked by a dense evergreen tree line silhouette.

The low-angled, evening sun illuminates a vivid orange and yellow glow across the horizon, contrasting against the deeply layered altocumulus cloud deck above.

The foreground displays calm, rhythmic water ripples reflecting the purples, pinks, and deep blues of the fading twilight.

In no particular order, I am going to share the incredible cloud/colour/light show that lit up the sky.

From sundown, to the sun falling deep below the horizon - the aftermath became more and more incredibly mesermizing by the minute. The clouds were spectucular as the palette of changing colours, painted the sky and decorated the ocean with reflection, Just when one would of thought it could not possibly become more breathtaking - Mother Nature surprised us !

With camera in hand - this was truly, a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Break the barrier, where drama does wait

Feel the caresses of the hands of fate

Give yourself, give it all

To the wild passion, that does call

Strip your fears and surrender

Forbidden lands, you will enter

Where under dramatic clouds above

You will be soaked in the elixir of love

Hidden desires, will be woken

Wild cries of passion will be spoken

You lose your mind, the land does shake

As all the barriers, you frantically break

We’ll be traveling down to Hertfordshire tomorrow to see my daughter et al and to be honest I started to get a little anxious about the drive. I’ve never been a keen driver for long distances, but as needs must over the years I’ve had to drive all over. For work I was up to the midlands all the time and now all my family live away so staying in touch involves lots of traveling. Prior to the pandemic I was regularly doing 700 miles round trips visiting the grandchildren, but now after 14 months of relative no driving these epic distances are a little daunting. It’s a confidence thing and I’m sure once well into the journey I’ll be ok, hopefully keeping the toilet stops down to one and I can persevere the leg aches that I will sure to get. So take my mind of it here is a #waveWednesday taken back in April, called Shape shifter. It’s a rare wave photo in that it’s not taken with my Canon 7dmkii and 100-400 combo sitting on a tripod. I decided to go light and local on the afternoon of this storm, carrying my fujifilm XH1 and 70-300mm lens plus 1.4x, all taken handheld. It was an experiment, the results were OK, but it won’t replace my DSLR for these sessions in a hurry.
