This month may not have been very summery, but it has produced some dramtic skies. Monday evenings were the most spectacular of all, the clouds were crazy.

While five days is too short to properly explore the Faroe Islands, we lucked out with spectacular weather that made taking in the country's dramatic landscapes an absolute pleasure. While people often talk about the Faroe Islands as being very similar to Iceland, Scotland or Norway the truth is it is its own distinct destination with raw shoreline and distinct geological formations that make it truly unique to experience and explore.

Father and son working together in Accident Repair Centre
Keltruck, the largest independent Scania Distributor in Europe, is recognising nearly four decades of combined service from father and son Paul and Boyd Talbot, with Boyd dramatically recreating a photo of Paul at work in the company's West Bromwich Accident Repair Centre.
Paul is Manager of Keltruck's Accident Repair Centre at its West Bromwich site and Boyd works as an Accident Repair Specialist, having followed in his father’s footsteps when he joined Keltruck as an apprentice in 2000.
Paul started in the motor trade working as an apprentice at Jenson Cars, then after three years moved on to work as a panel beater at Hartshorne Motor Services. After meeting Keltruck founder Chris Kelly senior he started working with Keltruck on a self-employed basis, before opening his own business and doing work for Keltruck and other companies. In 1993 he sold his business and started work at Keltruck as an accident repair specialist.
Chris D. Kelly, chairman of Keltruck and son of founder Chris senior, said: "Paul started working for Keltruck nearly a quarter of a century ago and has been a key employee ever since. I’m delighted that he’s stayed part of the Keltruck family for so long and that Boyd is also well into his second decade with us."
Chris continued: "Keltruck is, at heart, a family business with family values and I believe this is reflected in the quality of the service we offer our customers. My father founded the company in 1983 and I joined in 1999 and many of our team have been with us for a similar length of time."
As well as the Kelly and Talbot father-and-son connections, there are other family links throughout Keltruck. Examples include Andrew Bentley, General Manager and his wife Vanessa Bentley, Customer Service Process Development Manager, as well as Mike Kelly, Fleet Sales Director, and two of his children Rory Kelly, Used Sales Executive, and Ria Kelly, Marketing Executive and Chris senior’s nephew, Russ Kelly, Account Manager.
Keltruck has two expert Accident Repair Centres, one at West Bromwich, on junction 1 of the M5, and the other in Newark, Nottinghamshire. While they specialise in Scania vehicles, they have the expertise and the Josam jig equipment required to undertake major chassis, cab and body repairs for all makes of commercial vehicles, buses and coaches.

It's like a cartoon about two Korean teenagers escapade where they went to the hip/bad foreigner part of town on a Saturday night and had two shots each only to slump dramatically on some stairs in an alley.

New lens for the Chinon, wide-angle Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 - feels lovely and wide on the 35mm SLR format compared to the cropped sensor I'm used to. It's pretty soft wide open but f/8 seems to be the sweet spot for sharpness across the frame, look forward to getting out and about a bit more with this glass!

This dramatic effect was made possible by putting my sun glasses infront of the camera and setting the white balance to 'incandecent'

we got a baby sitter tonight so that we could go out with a bunch of friends for dinner.
we were on the train to brighton beach at a stop and one of our hosts was mugged.
3 guys got on a stop before and walked past us. i saw them check out my friend sitting next to me and something just seemed wrong. total thugs. when the train stopped at the next station 2 of the guys got off and the other ran past us (bumping into our pregnant friend in the process) and grabbed my friend's cell phone right out of his hands and got off the train. the doors shut and it was all over.
sometimes i hate people. i really do.
i hate that it makes me want to stay inside for the rest of my trip. that won't happen, but the d100 will not be riding the subway again.
it is not the phone...it is the reaction from people here. "don't call the police, they won't care." shameful. it could have been a lot worse and that is the point. i am sure that those guys have done a lot worse...tonight...and where is the security for the transit system? i know i am a los angeles resident looking at this from a quick visit, but i am outraged. where does it stop? when is it bad enough that someone does care? i'll tell you when, when it is too f'n late. that's when.
i'll get off my soap box tomorrow and post more photos of gemma sans political outrage. i promise.
