had just eaten. Apologize for the quality but it's difficult to get a picture of him through the plexiglass. He looked so content, though, I thought it might be worth sharing. "Dozer" is a Black throat monitor lizard (Varanus albigularis ionides). Black throat monitors are native to sub-Sahara Africa. Photo by Frank

Ack! With this photo it was so hard to choose from colour or black and white, but I just loved that blush of colour in the upper left hand side.

No photographers were harmed in the makings of this shot (for once...)

I was about to catch a tram & stumbled across several murals by [NY's] DOZE GREEN while in Vegas.

Winger and Dozer, groovin' in the long grass.

the aptly named dog that lives as Sanctuary lakes, a lovely big dozy thing.

After killing his football, Badger fell asleep, refusing to let go.

Fell asleep watching TV.

I was taking pictures of other animals when I felt a poke in my back. It was Dozer looking through the window.

Dozer was born on a veal farm then traveled with a petting zoo. Steer become too large after their first year to be in a petting zoo, and Dozer would have been sent for slaughter but someone rescued him and took care of him for a while. When he became too big to live in his rescuer's back yard he was brought to Catskill Animal Sanctuary, where he has made friends with other steer.

Catskill Animal Sanctuary is in Saugerties NY.

Dharma likes nothing better than to wander off by herself and get a nap. She's a long two-year old, but she acts as if the "youngsters" get on her nerves, so she's a bit stand-offish. There was a breeze this afternoon, so her mane was blowing about.
