One of the 10 soundly asleep after his snack. We trimmed their nails today...10 pups x 4 feet....lots of trimming.

After our kids were old enough to be (mostly) responsible for taking care of a pet, we decided to get a cat! We went to the shelter and let him pick us (although we LOVED him from the minute we saw him). He was an older cat (not a kitten) and we took him home that day! We all adjusted nicely and began our new life together! Within a week, I took him to the vet for his shot and a checkup, as well as to check out a back leg that he was limping on. The vet didn't feel anything out of place or broken, so we figured it was a strained muscle and brought him home to rest. Less than a week later, it was swollen to 3 times it's normal size and he couldn't put weight on it at all! I took him back in and they did xrays. They found a HUGE abcess and drained it and kept him overnight for observation. They also tested him for a feline disease that causes repeat infections. In that case, he would have had to be put down! I cried all day, loving this new member of our family like he'd been ours forever! Thankfully, it came back negative and he was home with meds resting the next day! Two weeks later, it happened again and we got him fixed right back up and he's been perfect ever since! I just can't imagine what would have happened to him if we hadn't adopted him that day! We feel like we saved his life! If we decide to add another pet to our family, we will most certainly be adopting again!!:)

He's so stinking cute, you can't help but love him.His right eye is partially blue, both eyes use to be blue before they changed.

Back to Tinos Town. A few more random shots in Tinos. One definitely sees a lot of stray cats in Greece. Didn't see too many residents with dogs, either.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

Just got these via email from my friend Esther who recently visited... man, I love the sun, the summer. aah, bliss

15th Engineer Co., 19th Engineer Battalion with the help of the 42nd Engineer Company's EEP platoon, uses dozers to form a 200 meter anti-tank ditch that serves as an obstacle for the “enemy.” The dozers also constructed a 7 ft., high, 800 meter berm, and used dimensions suitable for tanks to created four vehicle fighting positions. The purpose of the berms and fighting positions is to provide cover for the tanks when they move up to fire on the enemy, and to provide an egress route for the tanks.
