What an interesting story of how I met Doug, and his son Alex!
I was coming out of work, and as I stepped out the door I saw a gentleman walking along the building with a young boy with him. The rather pleasant gentleman asked if there were any nature walking trails nearby. I started to describe the trails around town then decided that we were really too close to city centre to access any reasonable walking trails; so I offered Doug and his son Alex a ride to a good trail. As we were driving he told me that he and his son are performers on the cruise ship that had docked for the day. He and his son have a 'violin show' they do for the cruise ship passengers. Both he and his son (and other family members) are very accomplished musicians!
I suggested to Doug that I could give him and Alex a real tour and take them for a ride over the mountain to the Skeena River before they had to re-board the ship.
So we went for an hour and a half long trip with several stops along the river and a nearby lake where Alex could toss a fish hook in for a while. We enjoyed a lot of conversation about American politics and the performing arts industry. Doug is from the East coast of Florida, but is living with his Australian wife in Los Angeles to take advantage of the show business industry.
It was really quite a delightful meeting of two strangers, and I relish in our time together. Doug was kind enough to give me a signed copy of his latest CD: Different Hats [I well imagine is suggests his ability to play many, many genres on the violin].
Check out Doug's web site and listen to some music; perhaps purchase a CD!

Went out from work with Doug's built G35 and did a long over due shoot. Was hard to find a spot close to work at the last second, but i think this alleyway did the job.
This is a repeat of a previously posted photo and shows my brother in law and sister in law, Doug and Narelle, on Moreton Island, Queensland.
Doug and Narelle were married 6 weeks before Joanne and myself in the same church, 30 years ago. Doug was a devoted husband and father of two lovely children Stephen and Melissa.
Doug was an uncomplicated fellow, an excellent tradesman, and a mad keen fisherman. Every photo I have of Doug shows him in a straw hat holding a huge fish.
Doug passed away 6 days ago at the age of 56 years, from pancreatic cancer. We will all miss his wonderful good nature
Scientist Doug Mair, who was part of our camp on the Greenland ice cap. Every evening Doug would stand outside the tent smoking his pipe and watching the sun - and as you can tell by his clothing it was seriously cold!

Doug was a soft-spoken man, on Madison Street, east of the train station. He's been homeless for about three years. At the moment, he sleeps in abandoned buildings. His dream is to have a place to live, so he won't be homeless anymore. He likes Chicago sports, but prefers the Sox to the Cubs...
Doug's personal site is big, bold and fun, like any personal site should be. The huge header really stands out and gives the design a life of its own. I really enjoy the giant search box, the great type, and the footer section as well. The only thing that bothers me about this design is the drop down navigation tab, which seems much too hidden to me.
Doug is a resident at King's Rest Court motel located on old Route 66 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. I was taking some photos of the motel and Doug struck-up a conversation with me. Doug wanted his picture taken. I gave him a print the next day.
