The largest donut in Inglewood CA is at Randy's Donuts, Randy's was built in 1953 as the second of ten locations of the now-defunct Big Donut Drive-In chain founded by Russell C. Wendell a donut machine salesman, (only four big donuts still survive) This building has become a historical landmark and a true example of programmatic architecture that used to be quite prevalent in Southern California but now only a few examples still exist

Randy's Donuts has several locations. This one is in Downey, CA

Los Banos Donuts shop at night

I can't be certain, but there is a very good chance that this place was there back when I made my first trip to Yosemite decades ago as a child. I recall my Dad driving us over Pacheco Pass and down through a green hills into the Central Valley. (Yes, this was before the San Luis Dam was constructed, though I think it was already approved or planned. Yes, I've been in California that long!) I know we passed through Los Banos, stopping in the mid-town park. I don't know if we stopped for donuts on that trip, but I have stopped here a few times since then.

Each time I've passed through this town for the past few years, typically before dawn or well after sunset, I've noticed the place and made a mental note to stop and photograph it in the dark, its big red DONUTS sign and glowing interior lights calling to us in the darkness. But since I was usually in a hurry to get somewhere — a destination to the east or else back home — I never stopped. Until this season. I finally pulled over and stopped briefly in a parking lot across the street and made a few exposures. I thought the pickup truck was an appropriate touch. (And, no, I did not stop for donuts. This time.)

Another free donut from the grocery store, King Soopers, because the Denver Broncos won another game. The sprinkles are supposed to represent the team colors, blue and orange. I don't know much about football, but I think the team's quarterback, Bo Nix, has the best name!

Little trip into London with the camera today, on the hunt for donuts.

Wow! Look at this mouth-watering strawberry donut from a bakery called Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.

The donut marks were already there (you can see them on the satellite imagery if you don't believe me).

This is a photo of my brother Paul, he is a donut. I had some trouble loading some 120 film onto a reel the other week and when I processed it the film had lots of scratches on it ( I am a donut also ) and I thought this one looked pretty cool.

...there is no try. As a certain little green fella might say.

So many choices! Makes you go "hmm".

I'm not 100% happy with the results, I couldn't really figure out anything too special edit or filter vise, but I might as well post it, as it is still a step in my journey into learning SL photography.

Finally a different hair. Similar, but different. Oh sweet, subtle differences! Magika (#notspon) was (or is, at the time of posting this) having a sale, so why not.

Inspiration for this came from Edward Hopper's Nighthawks painting and the Target exclusive set 40358: Bean There, Donut That.

I am next in line for donuts and this lady is taking FOREVER. Patience, erjk, patience. :o).

What's on the menu ? donuts

This photo is dedicated to Russian tv show host and Kremlin propagandist Olga Skabeeva who told her brainwashed tv fans that the British people were eating squirrels due to food shortages in England.

Don't worry Olga, there's plenty of donuts still around.

Nov. 5 is National Donut Day!

Did you know in 1938, the National Donut Day holiday was started as a charity event by the Salvation Army in memory of the Salvation Army “donut lassies" who served complimentary donuts and coffee to soldiers during World War I? They were short on supplies, so they fried donuts in helmets, cut their shapes with canned milk cans, and used wine bottles for rolling pins. I’ll bet it was worth it to see the soldier’s faces glowing with delight!

On the road back from Minnesota to Maine, we stopped for lunch and also donuts. Bitchin Donuts makes delicious plant based donuts.

I've never heard the phrase "Dumb Donut", let alone seen it as a tattoo on anyone until I took this photo.
