I had to do a black and white self portrait for something for blu domain, so I took about 500 pictures in a mirror today and this one was the only one that was even worth processing. :(

On January 1st of every year, new heritage works enter the public domain. Unfortunately, these works often remain inaccessible to the public.
In order to share experiences and best practices in opening up this material, Meemoo, COMMUNIA, Creative Commons, Wikimedia Europe, Wikimedia Belgium, the Royal Library of Belgium and Europeana co-organised the annual Public Domain Day on 9 January 2025 in Brussels.
This event highlighted inspiring developments and European use cases and examined the legal, financial, technical and institutional barriers that prevent the public access to this works. Discussions focussed on strategies to overcome these obstacles, ensuring that public domain content can truly benefit everyone.

Zoetrope continues to flirt with the line between art and architecture with it's newest installation, Domain. This particular piece examines notions of enclosure and boundary. Composed of water-jet cut aluminum pieces, the larger form flexes into a vortex configuration that transforms from a horizontal mark in the landscape to a cradling vertical surface. A subtle tension emerges as the piece forces one to question the distinction between occupiable and inoccupiable space.
We saw verdins on Nov. 26, 2013, in Gilbert, AZ, at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch. This is a beautiful sprawling nature preserve, founded in 1999, with a variety of nature-based attractions. (Public domain photo by Wayne Dumbleton)
