The Chisana River 2 wildfire is burning approximately 25 miles west of the Canadian border and about 20 miles south of the Alaska Highway border crossing in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve and the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge in the eastern interior of Alaska. Photo taken June 11 when the fire made an 8,000 acre run due to winds and dry, warm conditions.

I believe the 2.25 inch heliograph at left to be an India (Roorkee) pattern heliograph, based on a number of features, including the resemblance to the 1880's diagram of a Roorkee pattern heliograph that I've colored in and composited at the right.
Besides the close coincidence between the righthand rod and its mounting arrangement to that of the 4.5" Roorkee Pattern heliograph, the heliograph at left has three features not present in any Mance heliograph: (a) righthand rod attached to back of mirror, rather than top edge, (b) azimuth gear knob protrudes from rear rather than side, (c) azimuth gear housing is a cylinder rather than rectangular.
